Rank Team Best player The buzz
1 Indianapolis Tarik Glenn (T) Peyton Manning rarely gets hit, and the Colts can run the ball.
2 Cincinnati Levi Jones (T) Willie Anderson makes for two solid bookends; guards are sound, too.
3 Denver Tom Nalen (C) Broncos are masters at building chemistry up front.
4 Pittsburgh Alan Faneca (G) Every year, Steelers are in the top five in rushing.
5 Seattle Walter Jones (T) "Pork Chop" Womack has big shoes to fill in replacing Steve Hutchinson.
6 Washington Chris Samuels (T) New-age "Hogs" came together in playoff run last season.
7 Minnesota Steve Hutchinson (G) Big year coming for T Bryant McKinnie, plus C Matt Birk is back.
8 Chicago Olin Kreutz (C) With John Tait and Fred Miller at tackles, passing game should be better.
9 St. Louis Orlando Pace (T) "Greatest Show on Turf" in transition to new coach, system.
10 Kansas City Will Shields (G) Gargantuan hit losing LT Willie Roaf to retirement.
11 New England Matt Light (T) Good enough to have their own Visa commercial.
12 Carolina Mike Wahle (G) Panthers need T Jordan Gross to justify his top-10 draft status.
13 N.Y. Giants Chris Snee (G) Still stuck with Luke Petitgout at left tackle.
14 Jacksonville Chris Naeole (G) T Khalif Barnes looks like a cornerstone.
15 Green Bay Chad Clifton (T) Great tackles (along with Mark Tauscher), horrendous guards.
16 Dallas Flozell Adams (T) Cowboys, especially their guards, to be better, healthier than in '05.
17 Atlanta Wayne Gandy (T) Overachieving Falcons run Denver's zone-blocking schemes pretty well.
18 N.Y. Jets D. Ferguson (T) D'Brickashaw Ferguson and C Nick Mangold are first-round rookies.
19 San Francisco Larry Allen (G) How much does Allen have left before getting in line for Canton?
20 Baltimore Jonathan Ogden (T) It's Ogden, one of the game's best, and no one else.
21 Tampa Bay Kenyatta Walker (T) Buccaneers were decent last year, and drafted two OL high.
22 New Orleans Jeff Faine (C) Reggie Bush will make a developing unit look better than it is.
23 Philadelphia Jon Runyan (T) T Tra Thomas and G Todd Herremans have fallen off considerably
24 Detroit Jeff Backus (T) New coordinator Mike Martz will find ways to mask weaknesses.
25 Oakland Robert Gallery (T) Lots of shifts going on, including Gallery from right to left side.
26 San Diego Mike Goff (G) LaDainian Tomlinson does OK, but Philip Rivers is under the gun now.
27 Miami L.J. Shelton (T) Daunte Culpepper, coming off knee injury, might have reason to worry.
28 Arizona Leonard Davis (T) The line could be a vulnerability to a potentially lethal offense.
29 Tennessee Kevin Mawae (C) Vince Young and LenDale White, take note.
30 Cleveland Kevin Shaffer (T) Lost star free-agent C LeCharles Bentley to knee injury. Awful blow.
31 Buffalo Chris Villarrial (G) T Mike Williams, who was supposed to be a 10-year anchor, was waived.
32 Houston Steve McKinney (C) Bush would have made even these guys look good.

That's way, way too high to rank our OL.

:welcome: to the forum. Enjoy your stay.

And if we are ranked that high, feel sorry for the other 16 teams.

Not saying that the O-line won't/can't be good, just that as a unit, they are still unproven.

i'd agree, but it's just 1 opinion. well 1 shared by many. but if this is where a particular writer sees it, great. we'll let the season play out at this point and see what happens.

I think he is projecting for this year. And if so, then #16 is not out of the realm of possibility. Think about this: we have 2 Pro Bowl starters in The Hotel and RIvera; and Johnson/Gurode should be solid whoever starts. Kosier has a suprising amount of respect among scouts for someone not that will thought of by most; the only real weak link is RT and Petitti; since there are two others competing there that slot should be better then last year. A healthy RIvera and Adams, an improved RT, and a more mobile guard along with solid center play. When you look at it that way, 16 might actually be low.

I totally agree.

The most ironic thing is that poor little Payton Manning blamed his failure to beat the Sqealers on an offensive line that some rank as the best in the league....
what a lil punk

Are you basing that opinion on a feeling that our OL isn't good, or that any of the teams listed 17 and below are actually better? Because the OL is not a sure thing but those teams at the bottom deserve to be there.

Would 16 have been too high through 7 weeks last year? I don't think so. It's only average, and I would hope with the return of Flozell, added depth, and more experienced guys that we could manage average.
