1. What new rules would you implement?
going forward
For me, it starts with a quarterbacks
When the quarterback takes off and runs. And he passed the line of scrimmage.
If he performs a fake slide. That’s it that’s where the ball is spotted.
If you fake slide , the defender stops pursuing . doesn’t want the penalty
It’s almost like cheating. You fake and then you takeoff again. That should be a penalty in itself.

No more new rules. Start enforcing the rules on the books.

I hate players punching the ball. It's an injury waiting to happen and players are trying to punch the ball instead of making the tackle.
Apparently it's against the rules. This is taken from the NFL rulebook

A player may not bat or punch:
(a) A loose ball in field of play toward his opponents goal line or in any direction in either end zone.
(b) A ball in player possession.

The refs can barely handle the new rule changes as it is. There are ENOUGH flags as it is. Give the referees 10 years or so to learn the new rule book before adding anything else.

This game that I once loved has almost become unwatchable. Monday nights are actually the worst.

Slides are already perfect because it’s where you start your slide be it a fake slide or not

If it’s a fake slide it’s still supposed to be called as a slide per the rules

I want to see Pass Interference be a 15 yard penalty….

Good post, I did not know that punching the ball out was against the rules. How many yard penalty

Spot or just 15 yards

I’m not sure what that is, clarify for me
that was the FIRST change to the catch rule and its been all downhill since then. Another example of changing basic rules because of the controversy about ONE play

Butch Johnson catch that would’ve been out the door

I could be wrong on this after doing some more research. Looks like they may have loosened the rule recently. Probably the reason we are seeing it so much more.
