First-year coach Leslie Frazier can’t say who his signal caller will be this season and it is unlikely an answer will be sitting there for the Vikings with the 12th pick in the first round.
So, Sid Hartman of the Minneapolis Star Tribune makes the not so great leap to predict Minnesota will go with a defensive lineman. It’s certainly a safe call. Some prognosticators are forecasting 12 or 13 of them to go in the first round and the Vikings need to re-tool their front four on the move.
“I think, as everybody has talked about, the defensive line has a lot of quality depth at that position,” Rick Spielman, the team’s vice president of player personnel, said per Hartman. “There will be a lot of guys go, I think, in those first three rounds from the defensive line. I think that's the heaviest position in this draft.”
