Nice using an Android without a bazillion notifications

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 9. It's my second Note and my third Android. I was being driven nuts by how many stinkin' notifications it sent me. It would seem that every app you install thinks you want it to notify you of every dumb little thing. I finally figured out you can go into your Android settings and choose "notifications" and then shut off notifications from any app you don't want them from. I don't need to be notified from news apps every time there's a new story. I access the app itself when I want to find out what's going on. I've got this thing set to just notify me when I get a text or a v-mail only, and that's a relief. This thing was making its little chirp noise every 5 minutes, and I would look to find out some news app posted a story about someone who got a boomerang stuck up his butt. I don't need to find that out immediately.

Going from iPhone to Android I also noticed that the Android phones love their notifications. They also update apps a lot!! I swear everyday I have apps updating. With my iPhone (and it's been quite a few years since I've had one) it didn't seem as frequent.

You can also look up the do not disturb function. I have it setup so from 10 pm till 5:30 am I will not receive calls unless it is from numbers in my contacts.

I think Amber Heard went back in time, brainwashed the Android developers into wanting more notifications, and then smiled evilly as she realized how much it would annoy you.
