Nick Niemann LB Iowa

I'm just going to assume you and Calvin had lunch together and this was a topic that came up?

“Nick Niemann is, in my opinion, one of the more underrated linebackers in this draft. He turned in a terrific workout. Measuring at 6-feet-3-inches and 234 pounds, Niemann blazed to a 40 time of 4.45 seconds. That’s more than .3 seconds faster than scouts expected. Furthermore, his other marks were fantastic and included a three-cone of 6.67 seconds and a short shuttle of 4.14 seconds.”

I’ve said it on here plenty, but I’ll say it again: I really like Iowa players. They’re tough, hard nosed, blue-collar guys that are solid citizens and know football. It is one of the reasons that I like Nixon.

I always am glad to hear they’re interested in an Iowa player.

I agree.

Come day 3, I always say give me Big Ten guys, captains, multiple year starters.

Wasn't that the school where the Cowboys drafted Hitchens? Remember everyone killing that pick at the time, but he was a very solid player for the Cowboys.

Correct. Hitch is a former Iowa guy

We don't need stars at linebacker, but rather players who know their assignments, can play their gaps effectively, hold up in coverage. Hitchens wasn't special in any area but he was a solid contributor for this defense. I think we can find contributors in that same 4th rd range where we drafted Hitchens, maybe not this prospect, but there should be others in that range.

People killed the Cowboys over a 4th round pick?

Any pick that isn’t the guy you want here = automatic bust

We are all wrong though. I thought Pat Watkins and Xavier Woods would get picks like Dennis Thurman and Michael Downs lol
