MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) —

A New Jersey woman who was struck in the face with a baseball at a Little League game is suing the young catcher who threw it.

Elizabeth Lloyd is seeking more than $150,000 in damages to cover medical costs stemming from the incident at a Manchester Little League game two years ago. She's also seeking an undefined amount for pain and suffering.

Matthew's father, Bob Migliaccio, said they were concerned for Lloyd when it happened. Then his son started receiving threatening and nasty letters, he said, and he started getting angry.

''The whole thing has almost been surreal,'' Migliaccio said. ''We keep thinking it's just going to go away, and then a week and a half ago a sheriff shows up at my door to serve my son the papers.''

''It's absurd to expect every 11-year-old to throw the ball on target,'' Migliaccio said. ''Everyone knows you've got to watch out. You assume some risk when you go out to a field. That's just part of being at a game.''

Not exactly sure. NJ did spawn the idea for "Jersey Shore" ... so, there's that. And that set the bar pretty damn low, by all accounts.

Quite the lowlife "gold digger" play by this lady and her husband ... legally going after a kid for an overthrown baseball ... ya know ... at a ballpark of all places. I mean, how could THAT ever happen? It MUST have been intentional hooliganism, in it's most vile form. No doubt about it!

/sarcasm

I bet the boy was spanked on the butt a few times when he was younger causing him to be overly aggressive on the mound which in turn leads him to lose control and throw off-target during warmups. The lady should have sued the father for undue violence and child abuse.

And now, just because they can, they are going to sue a family frivolously and cost them thousands of dollars. If the lawyer for the witch and her husband had any ethics he would laugh them out of his office. I feel so bad for the parents who are actually being "legally" terrorized by these bums.

I read your posts and others' in that thread, so I know exactly where you're coming from — making this all the more hilarious!

The cycle of violence is playing itself out, clear for all to see ... ... not!

This is not a the first time a little league player has been sue playing baseball. I read an article a couple of years back where a 7 year old was sued when he was warming up with one of his teammate. They were playing catch and the ball hit the ground and bounced up and hit some lady in the knee. She sued the player who threw he ball. I ton't know what the verdict was though.

What do you call 1 lawyer on the moon?
Problem
What do you call many lawyers on the moon?
Several problems
What do you call all lawyers on the moon?
Problem solved....
:laugh2:

Well, too bad she can't give the Texas Hammer a call. That lady is toast.

Someone might represent the family pro bono. I know I would.

Personal injury attorneys are the absolute worst. They're like a whole different profession altogether.

I can't stand civil claims.

I would hope so. Also I think LLB should help them as well.

This is why we should have some kind of loser pays system.
