Enough. Bone headed. Take the ball to start 2nd half. Also for love of God use your timeouts wisely. I’m screaming at tv scaring my family to call timeout with 35 seconds on the clock and 2 timeouts. Why don’t they hire a person just for clock management/ strategy?????

We’re an aggressive team on offense. We want to score first. I always want the ball.

Just another dumb MM/team decision. Dumbest team in the league by far and that’s a large feat considering the Texans and Dolphins are also in this league.

Big Mike could give a masterclass on clock mismanagement.

And in a hostile environment it’s always better to defer.

The crowd is super fired up to start the game. Much better to put the defense out there to begin if you win the toss.

Home games you can argue differently, but not on the road.

not really. the offense is the strength. you go down and score, you deflate the crowd. i prefer deferring always, but i get the rationale.

When Romo was qb we scored so often out tge Gate, now we are sloppy and slow to start, it's pathetic preparation and poor management to take tge ball

Garrett stupidly did that for years.

Don't recall anyone having a problem with it then.

If anything this particular team needs to set the pace and play with a lead.

Could swear that was a topic around here this past week.

The offense is the strength when Tryon and Cooper are playing.

Without them history shows we have big problems.

Big Mike should know when to make adjustments.

Yes. I mean it’s great if you take the ball to start and do something with it, but if you go 3-and-out like we did today it’s a big hole that’s hard to overcome on the road.

I’d rather get the ball to start the second half when the crowd may be a little more tired and still finding their seats after using the restroom.

for sure. it didn't work so it's easy to say it was the wrong call. anyway, whatever. we're splitting hairs. team sucked lol

Agree. We were so bad today it didn’t make a difference either way.

Why Big Mike failed to use his 2 timeouts before the half is a much bigger problem.

Wrong answer - how many times have we scored first? Always defer
I generally prefer deferring, but it made no difference. The defense did their job on the opening possession of the 2nd half. The offense didn’t on their drive to start the game. Or their first drive of the 2nd half after being set up by the defense on the KC 36 yard line.

Historically speaking...

Scoring becomes easier in the second half when players begin to get tired. Scoring becomes easier in the second half when QB's and play callers have a better idea of what the defense is doing. Scoring becomes easier in the second half when offenses figure out what's working and what's not working. I prefer to have as many positions as we can in the second half when scoring becomes easier.

Just saying.

Actually, I remember lots of people wanting Garrett to defer, including me. But, I get the logic of wanting our theoretically stronger unit, the offense, to start us off. I just think Dak usually plays better after he settles down a bit.

I don't know what's so "clever" about the deferral? If you have a badass team, take the ball. Every time.
