You do not pay for Henry or any good RB. You bring a washed up Zeke and Cook in FA.
This team lives and dies by the draft.

You do not draft a RB in the first two days of the draft since 2016 with Zeke.

Think about that.

NO RB drafted in the first three rounds since 2016

Since taking Zeke here are the RBs and Rounds they have drafted a RB.

Bo Scarborough 7th round
Tony Pollard 4th round
Mike Weber, insert Who gif here, 7th round
Deuce Vaughn 6th round

So for a team that lives and dies by the Draft...since 2016 you have not taken a RB in the first three rounds of the draft and Pollard was the only one of note in all of those years.

I won’t fault them for not taking someone in the first 3 rounds I fault them for not taking anyone. I’m perfectly fine with Pollard or Demarco….

Someone told me you don't need a RB. Personally, I think the thought process is pretty stupid. Especially when the QB looks like an All-Pro with a run game, and Lavonya Quintella Carter without one. Minor exaggeration, but ya get the point.

Yes it’s poor strategy.

Best strategy is to draft RB’s in the 2-4 round every few years. Keep a constant flow of fresh young legs coming in.

Never extend them to a long term deal.

- Understandably you wouldn't draft another 1st round RB since Zeke gave us not one ,but two rushing crown titles.
after that you would have to observe if how much decline was zeke, ...OL or ..scheme

- plus here comes an explosive backup Pollard showing usbig splash flashes, so its a wait and see post-Zeke, if Tony could become eliteness once he's featured.
as opposed to a Pro Bowl spot role RB. (and Pollard was a 4th rd guy)

I for one, don't believe in having to be forced to draft a RB in first round,.... just for the sake of drafting one.
That leads to reaching, and trying to make a player better than what he is.

- With the right player personnel/drafting team, i believe you can find impact RBs in 2nd and 3rd Rds. (jon Taylor, Raheem Moshert, Kyren Williams, Chubb)

True, but the offense needs an effective offensive line before any running back not named Barry Sanders to make much difference.

The biggest goof was not going after FA Derrick Henry, who publicly expressed interest to join the Cowboys ...

We sign up a well proven Henry, and we don't even have to be concerned with drafting an unproven college RB, or use valuable draft picks to
do so.

Now Henry is the NFL's leading rusher ..and is a Huge compliment to Lamar Jackson. ..Now its' not all on Lamar as he has major help to
share the offensive burden.

The kind of major help that Dak Prescott could have mightily used to help lessen the burden on his back.

But (sigh) ... our beloved owner proclaims that we could not afford Henry's 2 year $16 million contract ?
