No real reason to post this other than I thought it was funny...

So apparently, Texas Tech fans vandalized the Texas A&M team buses in Lubbock last night. Threw feces in them, keyed them, painted vulgarities in red/black paint, etc. Several thousand dollars in damage. The funny part about it is that A&M rents buses locally when they are on the road, and the company in Lubbock that they rented them from is owned by a wealthy Tech graduate. Oops. :laugh2:

Wow, yeah that was mean spirited and short sighted of them in every way, but in all fairness in the 1970s a group of Aggie students thoughtlessly painted their race horse, a prized retired Kentucky Derby winner at that, and the prank ended up killing the animal.

Stupid pranks go far quite often, a couple of Aggies tried to steal the baylor bear in the early 80s too, he was friendly until they got him in the car, then all the sudden it remembered it was a bear, they're lucky all it did was gut their car and not them.

I don't know who thought it was a bright idea to try and drive 90 miles with a live grown black bear unrestrained in the back seat.

A lot of bad pranks ahppened in the old days, different time and place. Hell, in the 1920s the corps stole BEVO, killed him and made dinner out of him. A&M stole every mascot in the SWC at one point or another, and several schools stole Reveille. A&M and Baylor almost went to war once back in the 20s or 30s. The "good ol days" produced a lot of unfortunate incidents.

You know honestly, I could care less about A&M. I am glad to see them leave. It will be fun watching them struggle even more in the SEC.

BTW: Take Missouri w/ you. I would like to also see them gone from the Big12.

My dad was in the corps at that time and said the same thing. He was a very angry, bitter person who always looked for a fight. You won't find a single Aggie who defends his actions.

Texas Tech University Issues Statement on Alleged “Classy” Act

By: Allen Corbin | 2 hours ago

Texas Tech this evening issued a statement on the alleged vandalism of the Texas A&M team buses from this weekend. Texas Tech’s assertion of events is far different from the social media update published last Saturday from Texas A&M Athletic Director Bill Byrne.

From Texas Tech University:
Many of you are aware of a tweet from a Texas A&M official that their team buses were spray painted and animal feces were spread inside of the buses early Saturday morning. The clear implication of the tweet was that this was the responsibility of Texas Tech fans or students. Texas Tech has conducted an investigation regarding this allegation, and has discovered the following:

The buses were not spray painted. Instead, washable shoe polish was used on the windows of one of the buses.
No feces were found either in or on the buses. Fish bait was dropped onto the floor of one of the buses.
The alleged “vandalism” was cleaned by the bus drivers and Holiday Inn staff before it was seen by the A&M official who tweeted the information.

While incidents such as the ones alleged are inappropriate and strongly condemned by Texas Tech, it is no less wrong to condemn the entirety of our university, students and supporters by posting inaccurate information on the internet for the purpose of sensationalizing the actions of one or a very few. We are disturbed by the careless use of social media to share these inaccuracies.

Not that I'm blaming you for posting it, but I think it's funny that Tech thinks statements they issue carry more weight than ones issued by A&M or the hotel (both said actual damage was done to the buses). The bus company offered no comment but they did reportedly file a claim, which seems odd if this info is accurate since no real damage would have been done. There is no police report so I'm not sure we'll ever know.

And regardless, nobody else puts a "but" at the end of an apology like that.
