you are the next coach of the Dallas Cowboys. I really think Norv Turner is the best coach for the Cowboys at this time. I think he would bring back the old tradition of winning SBs again.

and what in his illustrious head coaching career leads you to believe he is on the cusp of being a superbowl coach

We have been building this defense for so long it is time to get a defensive minded coach to show them how to be a good defense.

Unless JJ hires Lovie or Rivera no other coach that will be interviewed has been to the SB. At least Norv, having been there several times with the Cowboys. Knows what it takes to get there.

I just feel Norv will put more energy in getting the Cowboys back on the right track.

they just had a defensive minded coach, it didnt happen

I don't know what it is: I'm just not too comfy with having Norv as our head coach. I remember the debacle when he coached the Commanders. I felt good when they lost (when does a Cowboys fan NOT feel good when the Skins lose?), but I somehow felt bad for him when I watched his postgame news conferences. He always looked and sounded as if he was about to break down and cry.

He doesn't seem to have a lot of presence. I don't know if I'd feel positive about his ability to handle this team.

Our guys were being held back on defense and the scheme totally sucked.

Simple, simple defense that we'd run. We'd get burned on pass coverage, and what would we do...???? We'd do NOTHING! No adjustments whatsoever. That's what really ticked me off about the whole ordeal. :banghead:

is scheme gonna keep the DE's from waltzing with guards? or make james and akin better in coverage? is a scheme going to make roy all of the sudden cover? is it going to make henry able to cover man to man?

roy is going to have have to cover at some point in a game. thats just what a safty is forced to do.

so are lb'ers.

I have a gut feeling that it will be Norv. I'm OK with that, he never really had a chance to be successful in his other HC jobs.

I think that Norv will come in here and do well.

I'd love to know what would make Roy cover. Really, I would...because 90 percent of the time, it looks like he was just prancing around completely unaware of where he was supposed to be. He was astoundingly bad - it was hard to watch.

unsolved mysterys passed on that story too

TO will run roughshod over Norv so bad he'll leave pock marks on his face...wait, nevermind.

Is the right scheme going to keep Bradie James out there on passing downs, is the right scheme going to let DeMarcus Ware be in coverage half of the time, Is the right scheme going to have one of our smallest guy on our team (Aaron Glenn) covering Roy Williams the whole game even though he kept getting beat time after time(AKA Detroit game). These players were not put in the right situation to suceed. Now I will give you that the scheme is not totally to blame. And people like Roy Williams and Bradie James need to work on coverage, but we made no effort to help them out with that problem.

lol i still cant believe people think its that simple to say dallas will do this and that, and thats the end of it. like the opposing team dont game plan too. i love that point of view.

I'm starting to think Norv Turner could be the answer the Cowboys needed, he'll be the kind of coach who won't interfere with the defensive coordinator and will concentrate on the team as a whole...

me too. alot of people think that dallas def didnt exist. but this defense was top 4 for 10 weeks. but when they lost ellis they lost that other passrusher, but more importantly they lost a playmaker.

thats the problem with this defense they have 2 playmakers in that front seven. when teams like SD, Pitt, and NE have 4,5, and 6 in that front 7.

carp could end up being a playmaker but he's not there yet. but to eliminate ellis from the equation is basically saying dallas will still have the same read and react defense. akin and james are tackling machines, but they arent playmakers. they're history proves that. ferguson is a hog in the middle but wont be making plays like jamal williams. and the DE's. i got nothing to say about them except they;re boring. so before people think this defense will all of the sudden be a sack machine because of a coach think again. these players just arent those type of players.

after 2 yrs of the same play, u have to think if they're able to get the job done. im pretty sure any team in the nfl would take parcells over phillips anytime, even drunk. but all of the sudden phillips will make these players hungry? wake up!

And if he did that, he'd be looking for work the next season... as an aging WR, unlikely to match the kind of money the Boys are willing to pay him (or anything close to that kind of money, really)...

I think the even TO's smart enough that you can only burn so many bridges before you leave yourself with no way across the river...

if all you run is a vanilla containment style defense, then yes your DEs will be held up all day and LBs will look like they are standing still.
you wanna see the difference between a good 3-4 defense and ours, look at Pittsburgh's... not the talent, just the style of 3-4 they run. every player they get on defense is not just lucky to be great, it does have alot to do with style of defense they run - agressiveness!!

Look at the Eagles defense, I hate the Eagles, but you can say what you want because they rise to the occasion and always seem to be up to task.

Thank God Zimmer is gone, he had to be the most bland, and passive defensive coach there ever was. He made no adjustments!
