Not pretty but much needed win

Cowboys avoided 1-3 and probably disaster. At least for now. Thank goodness the Giants were there. A much needed win to keep the season from tail spinning possibly out of control.

Not out of the woods yet with brutal upcoming schedule where 2-4 at the bye looks very possible. But we can take a breathe of relief.

Still wasn’t an impressive showing. But we did get the lead early and held on to it which played more into our strengths. And we were able to finish some drives for TD’s and getting Lamb more involved and running game was marginally better. So some positive progress or output on offense but still need more points.

And defensively weren’t as devastated by running game and kept opponent out of the endzone . Anytime can hold under 20 points certainly enhances opportunities to win.

Penalties still a huge problem. I think it was like almost 10 by halftime . Now we get 10 days off to regroup and get prepared for Pittsburgh with a little more confidence than we had before.

Enjoy the win but it looks like this is probably closer to a .500 type team this year struggling to stay in contention for a WC slot.

This probably comes off too positive for the vibe on the forum today but we must remember the bar has been lowered under our dysfunctional ownership. We aren’t the championship caliber franchise as a result anymore.

Expectations must be adjusted as a result. Most of the better analysis had the Cowboys hovering around .500 this season. Our over/under was 9 1/2 wins. I had us at 8 or 9 with 10 the more optimistic which could be enough for a WC slot.

There were so many factors leading up to this season providing red flags. A lame duck HC. A QB possibly playing for a contract( which of course was resolved right before kickoff of opener), our WR1 who held out until days before the season, losing multiple starters in FA not directly addressing them except thru developing prior and current draft picks.

This doesn’t include not properly addressing our rushing game by drafting or acquiring a potential or legit starting RB. And of course our greatest weakness on defense at DT we didn’t address in draft or effectively in FA.

But yet some fans still expected this to be a serious contender. Based on what? 3 straight 12 win seasons. Totally absurd.

I think maintaining a proper balance is needed. Once you accept what our beloved franchise has become it provides a better or keen perspective into what our expectations are.

I get bashing our owner and moving parts. That’s all fine but once we get past that can begin to properly provide a more reasonable evaluation.

And we can address what we believe will propel this team or franchise to greater heights. But in the end all we can do is deal with what we have. Not what we want to have. And how can we make the best of our toxic atmosphere and dysfunctional organization.

its like being handicapped. Once you come to grips with the limitations you begin to look for how you can enhance or make the most of your situation.
