Former Notre Dame quarterback Dayne Crist is transferring to the football program at Kansas, reuniting him with former head coach Charlie Weis.

Crist posted the news on his Twitter account Thursday, saying, "After a long & difficult decision making process, I'm incredibly excited to join the Kansas football team."

Crist began this season as the Irish's starter, but was replaced by Tommy Rees after one half of play in Notre Dame's season-opener against South Florida.

Weis was the Irish's head coach for Crist's first two years in the program, but was fired after a 6-6 season in 2009. He was named Kansas' head coach earlier this month.

I think he's another Brady Quinn. Look like Tarzan, play like Jane.

Probably. Is he going to get to play right away? A couple people I know that go to KU said he wasn't going to have to sit out a year but Jake Heaps is. Don't know if this is true.

Not sure if he has to sit a year or not.

Just looked it up, Crist has already graduated so he doesn't have to sit out. Similar to what Russell Wilson did at Wisconsin.

Cool. I think he will be a big help to Kansas.

He didn't get a fair shake at Notre Dame this season. He is a better QB than Rees, who took over as starter after the 2nd Quarter of the USF game. He will be a huge help to Kansas.
