This should be a very busy early start to the week at VR. We should know who our new HC and DC will be by Wednesday. I doubt Jerra wastes any time finishing out this process.

HC Rivera

DC Singletary

OC Garrett

Just say no to Norville. :starspin

I'm not a Norval hater but I could roll with ya.I would not be opposed if the first two were in reversed order. For God sakes somebody, anybody who can get this team to FINISH !It sux when you think it could have easily been us out there tonight.Easily.Oh well I am sure the rest of the nfc will suck next year and we will be relatively healthy all year again next season, huh? it could happen maybe.

It concerns me that the 49ers didn't want Singletary to be their DC. All that I have heard about him is that he is an excellent coach who really motivates his players, but he is not good at game plans and Xs and Os type stuff.

Thus, I think Singletary is out unless we hire him as head coach, which I don't think he is ready for. Besides, if it came between Singletary and Garrett, I would rather get Garrett as the head coach.

I'm not a big fan of Turner, but I think the safe money is on Turner as HC, Rivera as DC and Garrett as OC.

i think whoever takes the helms will be getting a really good football team, if it wasn't for a stupid mistake we could have been playing that game tonight so we have real potential to be a great team.

I think it's still Norv Turner as HC, and I'm hoping it's Rivera as DC if Norv is indeed the HC.

I think the probability of Phillips as HC is still fairly low.

But if we can't get Rivera as DC, I'd prefer to go with Phillips as HC.

If Rivera is hired as head coach, he could be the de facto defensive coordinator, with Singletary holding that title.

I like the idea!

I wonder how long it will take before he gives Rivera a call after a loss like this and if he has to notify the Bears first before interviewing? I guess he wouldn't have to notify the Bears if he interviews him for HC and then DC.

And was there any rumor about Dungy hanging it up after the superbowl? I thought he said he might if they won. Caldwell should just slide over to the HC position if that were the case. At least, it would be the easiest transition.

I think the Bears defensive collapse only reinforces the importance of a very experienced and balanced offense, as demonstrated by the Colts. It puts Turner in even a better position but life could get interesting for Norv if Jerry interviews Caldwell.

I dont know much about Caldwell, other than he has been with the Colts for a few years...but I doubt he has much to do with the Colts offense...its all Tom Moore and Howard Mudd

I do think last nights game made the decision easier for Jones though and like you, think it will make it more likely (if it wasnt already wrapped up) that Norv Turner will be the next coach...Romo needs good coaching, and Norv is one of the best QB coaches, game planners and play callers in the NFL...

It also reinforces the importance of tackling well and playing tight up the middle. The Bears defense crapped the bed every bit as much as Grossman last night. Grossman's was just the latest and most singular.

The good news is - I was wrong about us not having the players to play the Tampa 2 - at least not Lovie and Rivera's way. Heck, we did it over the last 4 games, just as well as Chicago did last night. We won't even have to change our base.

There's still people out there thinking Norv is not the new HC? :laugh2:

I still have seen nothing in print about Singletary's lack of game planning experience other than Nolan saying he wants an experienced DC. While I agree that reflects on Mike, the remainder of the comments appear to come from columnists and SF message boards that don't seem to quote any sources.

Singletary will have to get this experience somewhere. Perhaps it's not with the Niners.
