Nutrition Question While Working out

Today we started a new workout program and today I've dedicated myself to a much more strict eating policy. I'm trying to make sure and eat clean and get the calorie intake correct to lose weight.

So what I found out was that for my weight my matience calories for the day are 2500+ calories and from what I've read I want to do a calorie deficit of 500 or so calories in order to lose weight.

I went to myfitnesspal.com to track my calories and what I found once I put my exercise in for the day is that it told me I earned an additional 1000 calories for the day. So I started to try and add some food into there that would account for the additional calories and the website told me that if I kept with this meal plan, on a daily basis, along with the exercise I'd lose about 18 pounds in the next 5 weeks, give or take.


So after all that long winded explanation what I need to know is am I supposed to eat the additional calories or am I supposed to stay strictly to the calorie intake of around 2000 calories prior to the exercise? I don't want to eat the additional calories if this is going to be wrong.

I realise this will likely be a common sense thing to the folks who work out on a regular basis and are in great shape, and I probably sound really stupid for even asking it, but I want to be certain here.

The question is if the initial caloric goal you received was from the myfitnesspal.com or from another source. If they are the same source, than it gave you your caloric intake of 2000 calories pre-workout for the day, and seeing that you burned calories ~1000 calories during your workout. You need to eat 3000 calories that day to reach your 2000 calorie mark.

If your goal is to lose wt then not eating the extra calories will help you acheive it faster.

Just because you burned a lot of calories one day does not mean you should eat extra - i recommend stick to your diet plan of 2000 calories per day.

Just as long as your not doing frequent heavy lifting and very strenuous workouts that will create a lot of muscle breakdown. But you should not be doing that to acheive wt loss. If you have a heavy weight lifting routine you need to be in an anabolic state.
