I have been thinking about this, and this will be a crucial element to the 2007 Dallas Cowboys success. We do have the play caller from last year's offense still on board (Sporano). We also brought in someone who is an offensive guru in his own sense (Garrett). The question that must be begged, is which system will be utilized. Will we retain the Parcells-esque playbook with the QB reading half the field or sometimes only one route. Or will we go with Garrett's system which I'm sure is a combination of the Stretch the Field (Norv), Spread the Field (Fassell & Payton), or West Coast (Gruden)?

Personally, I would like to see what Garrett's playbook has to offer. I realize we were a successful offense last year, but I feel that we can feature all of our offensive weapons more if we go under Garrett's philosophy. We could satisfy Owens' ability with the West Coast principles, Glenn with Down-field scheme, Julius, Witten, Barber, and Crayton with Fassell's and Payton's Spread Theory.

I wouldn't mind having Tony and Jason as Co-Play Callers, and even keep some of the old Offense. But in my thoughts, think New Orleans Saints offense, and our ability to use our backs and TE's like they do, but still have Terrell Owens doing his West Coast thing and TG doing his downfield stuff.

What do you think?

Nice post Ch

For this season I think we will see a mixture of both systems

Early we may rely on the system that is in place, and install a new offense at the same time. As the seasons progresses we will move more towards garretts system imo

In WPs PC he mentioned when he was in Denver how he said "we gotta get this guy [Shannon Sharpe] the ball."

That season and the next were Sharpe's best 2 years in his reception numbers.

That made me fee pretty confident in the production we can expect from TO.

I'm really hoping that Garrett is the primary play caller, I'm anxious to see what he brings to the table, obviously if he's doing lousy, then Phillips can make changes to make sure things go smoothly.
