For at least the first quarter

Though I realize the exhibition. . . I mean preseason games are intended to get a look at the rookies and work out the kinks, I think it is too bad for the young receivers who will be stuck with Brad Johnson et. al as the quarterback.

I say this because Brad Johnson totally . . . SUCKS!

Are we really going into the season with this over-the-hill can't throw deep QB?

Anybody have some analyses on the other quarterbacks?
I hope one emerges so Johnson becomes expendable. However, I think Wade likes Johnson as the backup, a second-team bus driver who'll be able to hand off the ball and toss little flutters to the TEs. Cause from what I hear from camp, that's all we can expect from him.

Defensively, I can't wait to see Spencer, Ware, Canty, Spears.
Prediction: Ellis won't take the field.

I like Johnson and I know he can do the job. He may not have a rocket for an arm but he has the intelligence to take what the defense gives him and is extremely accurate and knows when to throw it away.

Ummm..

Terry Glenn, Flo and Marc Colombo are not playing in this game.

Hamlin, Ellis and Hatcher are the big names missing on defense.

Not bad for an exhibition . . . um, preseason game.
On any given Sunday in regular season you'll have some out. I am surprised it's only those three on offense and three on defense missing.

Though ordinarily there is no rush in the preseason, Ellis needs to get out there soonest before the youngsters overshadow him for good.

i really want to see brad johnson manage a game and make decisions , never really watched the teams he's played on too much over the years to notice much.

I agree with his intelligence but if the defense gives him the deep outs and long ball, his intelligence isn't going to get the ball there in a timely manner and neither will his weak arm... Our O will drop off greatly with him a QB..

You thought wrong. He just got his head knocked off a few days ago. Why play him now?

And Brad Johnson will surprise us all!! Careful...easy...watch it!!

Now, is there any doubt that the Cowboys are as deep at QB as Pacman's mind?

Any options to a backup for Romo?

Anyone? Anyone?

Brad Johnson-sorry guys, but he WAS the best option available in the FA market for backup QBs. Who else could we have gotten? BLEDSOE?!?

With that being said, if Romo goes down for a few games, I'm not worried. Johnson has just enough experience and smarts to come in and manage the game plan OK.

At various points during the preseason I recall Matt Shaub, David Carr, Harrington (I think), Tim Rattay, Patrick Ramsey, Jeff Garcia (though he wouldn't want to backup), and Kerry Collins.
And we went after Johnson?

Now, I cant tell you what the cap/salary/bonus ramifications were, but these were not exactly blue chippers but not sitting ducks either like Johnson.

I give Jerra lots of credit for assembling this bunch
Just seems to me that the backup QB spot fell between the cracks and the front office decided to gamble that Romo would stay healthy.

Such a ringing endorsement
