Bored so i used my time to be a productive member of society and make an offseason mock

This mock is a mixture of what I want & what I think we will & would be willing to do

Cuts:
1. Zeke- post June 1st cut.
2. Jordan Lewis
Extensions:
1. Dak Prescott
Restructure candidates:
1. Zach Martin
2. Demarcus Lawrence

Zeke and Lewis cuts will get us back under the cap and the very least get us the money needed to sign the draft class. A Dak extension is most likely to happen whether you like it or not. And I don't know if we restructure both, but I think we at the very least restructure one of Tank or Martin to open up the remaining money needed to sign our own and do some work in free agency.

Priority Cowboy free agents:
Pollard- Franchise tag
Steele- 2nd round tender
LVE- incentive based 3 year deal.
Hankins- 1 year deal similar to his last deal.

Free Agency:
DT Fletcher Cox- 2 year deal
CB Patrick Peterson- 1 year deal for 5-6 mil
WR Darius Slayton- 2 year deal

Everyone Wants Payne or Hargrave, but I think both will stay with there current teams. I do think Fletcher Cox could be a serious option though. We have shown interest in Cox in the past and think we finally land him. He may not be a top 3 DT like he once was and he is technically past his prime, be he is still a very good pass rusher and would do wonders for an already great defense. Patrick Peterson is still a solid corner and could step in and be our CB2 for next season. Darius Slayton shouldn't cost too much at 3-4 mil a year and brings some much needed speed to our WR group. Could be a decent #3 WR or a great #4 WR on our depth chart.

Trade: a 2023 5th round comp pick traded to Tampa Bay for Shaq Mason.

We have 9 picks this year and could use one of our late day 3 picks to trade for a vet like Shaq Mason to solidify the O line for next season and allows us to not have to force a O line pick early. Especially in this draft that is weak in guard talent.

DRAFT:
1st. WR- Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Ohio State- I think JSN will be one of our main targets at 26. Gives Dak another big time weapon to pair with Lamb and hopefully a fully healed Gallup.
2nd. CB Deonte Banks, Maryland- Not sure if Banks actually makes it to our pick but i think there is at the very least a chance even if only a slim chance. If not Banks there is still potentially Ringo, Forbes, Ricks, Jaylon Jones. Very deep CB class and I think team will be looking to go corner and WR in rounds 1 and 2.
3rd. RB Tank Bigsby, Auburn- Explosive one cut back who is very tough to bring down and is an underrated pass catcher. Will eventually take over as our starting RB once Pollard leaves next year.
4th. OG Atonio Mafi, UCLA- Mafi is still kinda new to playing Oline. Started as a DT before being moved to Guard a couple seasons ago. Still kid is very strong and a mauler in the run game. Future starter at LG.
5th. QB Clayton Tune, Houston- Tune has solid throwing mechanics and aim, is a smart player, and has enough speed to move out the pocket and make plays with his legs. Has average at best arm strength and nothing about him is elite. Tune could be a solid backup who can win you few games and keep your season alive. Dane Brugler really likes Tune and think he could go as early as the top of the 4th round. I trust Danes analysis.
5th. LB Dorian Williams, Tulane- Solid all around LB who brings Special teams experince
6th. TE Brevy Spann- Ford- The poor mans Darnell Washington. Measures in at 6'7" 270lbs with long arms and huge hands. Is a very good blocker and his huge catch radius making him a big red zone threat. Not the overall athlete or receiver Darnell Washington is though.
7th. DT Cameron Young, Mississippi State- A big strong run defender and space eater who will compete with Bohanna to backup Hankins. Pure Nose Tackle.

Post Draft:
Dante Fowler Jr
Donovan Wilson

Dante Fowler Jr and Donovan Wilson are the 2 players I would wait to sign till after the draft if still unsigned. Would love to have both back, but I'm willing to let both test there value on the open market. We have good depth at both DE and safety so neither player are a priority. Not to mention it seems other teams now realize Fowler only plays good under Quinn and after watching Kearse get little to know attention in free agency last year after a great season, I'm rolling the same dice with Wilson in hopes of getting for cheap as well.

My guess is there’s a strong possibility they consider moving on from Lawrence after next season, even if not, he’s not a good choice to restructure. Martin has already been restructured several times, his contract expires after 2024, they’ve already prorated his cap hit through 2026. Again, another poor choice to restructure. The specifically wrote Gallup’s contract with the intent and purpose that it be restructured this coming season. I don’t see where there’s anyway they don’t do so!

Just say no to giving Pollard 10m. Roll with Malik and a draft pick.
Nonsense! There’s no way you let the season hang on the balance of a 5’9 RB who ran a 4.6 at his pro day because he didn’t even get a combine invite and a rookie. You absolutely, without question franchise Pollard!!!

Not my first choice but if it’s between Pollard for a year or keeping zeke even on a cheaper redone contract, I’ll take pollard. Jerry and son ain’t letting both go in same offseason.

Ah okay. I’m no cap guru in any way. Tank and Martin are both names I’ve seen brought up by others here as well as in articles as restructure candidates. Thanks for the clarification that neither would be good options to restructure

Lawrence dead money hit is only slated to be 9m next season. I just don’t think they’re going to want to increase that. Martin would be someone they’d consider extending but they about run the restructured to the limit in its current form.

I like the effort but passing on a better offensive lineman in the second round isn’t how I would handle it. The team has stated they’re going to use the run game more. In my mind they get the best guard they can get when available. And I’ll get the best RB Possible.

Trust me If I fully had it my way our 1st and 2nd would be used on DT and oline in either order, but this team doesn’t value DT much and we just took a olineman in 1st last year. With WR and CB being premium position, cant see us passing on those positions unless all 1st and 2nd round graded WRs and CBs are gone when we are up to pick.

Looks very good! Pollard and Bigsby would be nasty. Slayton could a very nice under tbe radar add. If Gallup is better next year than Lamb, JSN, Gallup and Slayton is a pretty compelling top 4. Slayton isnt the sexiest name, but he is a prettt solid bet for 750 yards and 15 yards a reception

Slayton is a name to keep your eye on when FA starts. He’s cheapish and adds the speed to this offense we so desperately need. And like you said has multiple productive 700+ yard seasons. Much better option than signing another James Washington for not much less.
