I can't imagine there will be too many people that wanna take part in this thread, but I'm starting it anyway. :D

Anyways, I'm a huge Thunder fan that lives here in OKC, and I'm loving this team. Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook are two of the youngest, most talented, most exciting players in the NBA.

Oh, and I officially hate the Mavs after the antics that Jason Terry pulled on our home court.

Any thoughts on my Thunder?

Boomer Sooner, baby.....Boomer Sooner !!! :D

If it's an Oklahoma team...then them I like them....unless they are puke OkieOJ..then not so much. Not a big basketball fan either but have been following the Thunder some since they moved from Seattle to OKC, mainly to see if it could continue being a good thing for the city and Oklahoma.

I know the folks in Oklahoma love the team and from what I read, they are supported pretty darn well.

Im glad to hear that.

Cool! Are you originally from OK? Glad you've been following the Thunder. Yeah, the fans here have fallen head over heels for the team. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that the guys are such hard workers, they give it all they got every night, and they are all very classy, high character kids. There's been a ton of sellouts at the arena, and it gets really, really loud. And we do cool little things, such as, we don't sit until the Thunder scores their first point. The playoffs last year was nuts. My ears were still ringing the next day. I heard we broke decibal level records.

Yeah Im originally from Oklahoma. It's awesome to hear the team doing so well and that the fans love them like you say. That's pretty incredible. I am going to be coming down this summer to visit family in Tulsa and Claremore. I will DEF swing up to OKC and take in a game or two. I think my kid would love that.

Thanks for mentioning this Thunder news. It's great hearing it from a local fan.

You sound really excited and thats cool. :D

Converted Mavs fan here. And not for records... Cuban turned me off of the Mavs years ago. I just like Oklahoma and was very happy for OKC to get its first big league team. I'm in Texas but can get a KSBI affiliate where I am, and the last two years I planned other things around watching every game on Wednesday night... Until they took all the games to cable/satellite this year. :( Still catch many games on the radio, though.

Anyway, yeah, as great as Durant is, my favorite player is probably Westbrook... Got to love that kind of quickness and athleticism. Great draft pick.

I went up to the last Laker playoff game last year and it only cost me like $62 on Stubhub for a pretty good seat... Amazing. Great game, too, even though they lost. The Ford Center (Is it not called that anymore? And why?) reminds me of the old Reunion in Dallas -- not super flashy, but a great, loud place to watch a game.

I thought it was kind of cool how last weekend when they played the Heat on ABC, Tirico was (IMO anyway) sort of rooting for OKC. I think they're a great story, and when people come in to town they realize the city and Bricktown are a pretty neat little place that most national people don't even know about.

Well the Thunder got a very young good team. They will probably win a round, but they need more size before they can seriously threaten the Lakers.

Hey, cool, I'm glad to be your local Thunder eyes and ears. :D

What part of OK are you from? And yes, you should definitely come up for a game. They really are a ton of fun. And you can get some tickets for great prices. (I have season tickets in the cheap seats-- $10 per game!)

They have a chance to go as far as MAvs. Good for sure
Yeah, I'd love to see us play the Mavs in the postseason. You guys always give us trouble, but I think because of the short distance between us, the whole Oklahoma/Texas thing, etc, that if we met in the playoffs, it'd be the beginning of a cool potential rivalry.

That's so great that you're a converted Thunder fan, Chocolate Lab! Very cool. Yeah, I may be biased, but our team is so likable because all of the players are so classy and have such high character. And they play and practice so hard. I appreciate you saying those kind things about OKC. We are all so excited to finally have a big league team.

That's a bummer that you can't watch the games on KSBI anymore. Yeah, they're all on FoxSports Southwest now. Cool that you still listen to the games on the radio though. And that's great you came to the playoff game last year! I thought it was incredible that even though we lost the game, the crowd stood and cheered for our guys for a good 10 minutes after the game. That was an amazing, surreal thing to be a part of. I was so proud of our team, our crowd, and our city that night. The team really has helped to bring our city together in many ways-- it used to be OU fans bickering with OSU fans, but now we have a team we can all cheer for. And we finally have something to be known for besides college football and the Murrah Building bombing. Again, I appreciate the kind words about OKC. Like you said, I think we're a well kept secret, but I'm hoping that the word starts to spread that we have some great things going on in OKC.

That's why I'm hoping the Mavs can knock them out so we don't have to face them again in the playoffs. ;)

I like Durant and they're definitely a talented team. I'm a couple of hours from OKC, so it would be fun to go catch a game there.

But I'm a Mavs fan, so my compliments of the Thunder can only go so far.

Count me as a Thunder fan. Given the chance I would like to come down and see a playoff game.

Also, ignore that post above mine.

I just think OKC is a better team. They got two legit superstars in Kevin Durant who is probably the best offensive player in the NBA and Russell Westbrook who has emerged as an elite point guard. They also have Jeff Green who is a very solid #3 option.

Yes they are a very good team and I think they will be as good as the Lakers in about 3 or 4 years. The thing with the Mavs is that we are good but we are too old. In 3 or 4 years we will be deteriarating.

SuperSonics fan here since the mid-1970s.

So, what do you do after being a fan of a team for 30-something years and they cease to exist? It's hard.

I'm not as bitter as most die-hard Sonics fans because I don't live in the Seattle area. But I feel for them. They always had huge crowds and great fan support, but the politicians dropped the ball on a new arena.

Through the fault of a bunch of people (Washington's do-nothing legislature, Seattle's incompetent city officials, the dishonest and incompetent Howard Schultz, the vindictive godfather David Stern, and the dishonest Clay Bennett), a great, great basketball town no longer has basketball and gets to watch as the young budding talent that left Seattle a few years ago blossoms in OKC.

Nothing against Oklahoma City. Congratulations. You have an owner who knows how to get things done, knows whose rear end to kiss, and made it happen.

I've tried to follow the Thunder, but there's something missing. I love Kevin Durant and where a Durant Sonics No. 35 around town (which draws lots of weird looks). Yes he was a Sonic first. The last great one. I also love Westbrook and was a fan of his at UCLA.

Maybe Bennett and his lies are why I can't throw my full support behind the franchise.

Someday, Seattle will probably get another franchise, but it will most likely be at the expense of some other city. That will be sad.

Even before I followed the Sonics, I was a Spurs fan, too. Listened to WOAI at night from eastern New Mexico when I was a kid --- the Iceman, Larry Kenon, Billy Paultz, Coby Dietrich, George Karl, James Silas .... it's a franchise I've always had great respect for and one that I rooted for when Seattle was out of it. I follow the Spurs, am ok with OKC and wait for the day when Seattle gets a new Sonics team.

To Thunder fans, I would say enjoy that team, appreciate them to the fullest. You have a good coach, a good GM and a great foundation, especially with Durant signing a long-term extension last summer. Don't ever take them for granted.

They are a distant 2nd favorite team for me since I live in Oklahoma plus they have Durant.

Mavs are still #1 for me. Dirk is just awesome.
