A two-time All-American, he enters the final game of his college career - Wednesday's 8:15 p.m., ESPN-televised Alamo Bowl clash with Arizona - with credentials defining him as among the elite performers in school history.

In a program defined by great running backs, Hunter is one of only four Cowboys to reach the 4,000 mark in career rushing yards. Hunter has 4,194 yards and 37 rushing touchdowns. All-time leader Thurman Thomas ran for 4,595 yards in 1984-87.

If not for a serious foot injury in 2009 - one that rendered him ineffective for most of the season - Hunter would be OSU's career rushing champion.

"Kendall is about as genuine and solid a human being as there is," said OSU offensive line coach Joe Wickline, who recruited Hunter out of John Tyler High School in Tyler, Texas. "Everybody likes him. He just takes care of his business and he has a lot of pride. All he ever did was play his butt off. He's a rare kid. Very rare."

Murray a fan of Todman
http://www.journalinquirer.com/articles/2010/12/28/sports/doc4d1a1d91e63c4996888249.txt

Oklahoma running back DeMarco Murray hasn’t seen much of UConn running back Jordan Todman, but a quick look at the numbers and some highlights has the senior running back impressed.

Todman has rushed for more than 1,500 yards and 14 touchdowns and has carried the ball 302 times. It’s that last number that sticks out with Murray. At 6-foot-1, 207 pounds, he dwarfs the 5-9, 190-pound Todman. Despite that, Todman has 45 more carries and played one fewer game.

“If you rush for 1,500 yards, you are a good back,” Murray said. “How is he still standing? He must have a really good O-line. That’s a lot of carries.”

He was the Huskies third-leading rusher as a freshman in 2008, while Donald Brown carried the load. He split carries with Andre Dixon in 2009 but still gained 1,188 yards and earned second-team All-Big East honors. And this season, the 5-foot-9, 195 pounder became a star, one who may enter the NFL draft this spring, a topic he's not talking about until after the Fiesta Bowl.

If UConn is going to have a chance against the powerful Sooners, however, Todman is likely going to have to come up big. The only problem: Everyone knows Todman is coming. The Huskies rank 112th in the nation in passing, producing just 145 yards through the air per game. Expect the box to be crowded with Sooners.

But everyone has known Todman is coming this year, and he still averaged 5.2 yards per carry. And the offense was good enough to win the Big East and earn a BCS bowl berth.

"He's a hard guy to knock off his feet," UConn defensive coordinator Hank Hughes said. "He'll look like he's going down but he'll keep going."

At one point, Todman looked like he might go down the wrong path and get knocked off his feet for any of the variety of reasons young men falter and lose their way. But he didn't. He made a tough decision and seven years later his prospects look promising.

Said Todman, "I'm pretty much living the life."
