OL problems

The BIGGEST problem with this current Cowboys team is the Offensive Line:

Starting a center: Biadasz is dependable but I believe is the the starting problem with why this team has struggled to run the ball for THREE seasons. He isn't big enough and / or not strong enough to move opposing DT out of the way to open holes. Problem is he is dependable where 3 other OL guys are not.

At guard: Tyler Smith is probably the best OL on the team. But he is the guy that gets too many penalties. Though he has improved this problem, mainly because he isn't playing OT. He is the BEST run blocker on the line.
Zack Martin seems to be showing signs of decline. He is still a above average OG, he is getting nicked up and missing games for various reasons. His run blocking is showing decline. Will never do it but he would be a classic example of trading away a player a season EARLY, to get value back than get nothing and keeping a season late

At tackle: Tyron Smith is having a surprising good season. Dallas fans keep holding their breathe's and just waiting for that time when he is out for long period of games. Terrence Steele is not the same player after his major knee surgery. He is the worse run blocker on the OL and struggles with pass blocking also. Problem is, like Micheal Gallup, Jerry gave him ( both actually) where they are stuck with both players for at least another season or take a BIG salary cap hit ( dead cap space).

So fellow Cowboys can scream for a new QB, RB, another WR and I want a attacking MLB, this team needs to address this OL in a HUGE way. At minimum, a new OL coach and 1-2 new players in the off season ( draft/free agency)

Strange, it was the biggest problem going into the season.

And did zero to fix it. Keep depending on aging vets like Tyron Smith with no real plan to replace him. We should have drafted his replacement a few years ago.

Our first 2 picks last year was a useless DT and TE. One of those should have been an OL.

This will be our demise come playoff time when it gets harder to just air it out for scores. Need to be able to control the pace of game, give your defense rest and move the chains. OL is weak and we don't have a great RB core. Teams don't have to respect our run game at all like they have in the past. This makes play fakes less effective. Harder to close out games like Detroit last week.

Sign a FA who can start (had one bad game) and drafted a future starter and signed a UDFA who looks like a future starter.

Other than that they did do zero to fix it I agree.
And yet, it's still a terrible group of guys.

"Future starter" "looks like a future starter"

"Can start"

That amounts to zero. I am talking about a real plan. Not free agent scraps, UDFA scrubs. Actual real talent. This OL is quickly becoming as bad as it was back in the day.

Well at least this isn't uncharted territory, hopefully the team learned something the last time this happened to them in Arizona.

Good Points. Jerry has went to the grocery store ( aka: the draft ) 2 times with Trystin Hill ( DT-UCF) and Mazi Smith ( DT-Michigan) and appears both are bust. This franchise just can't judge talent to fill through the draft. And because the recent draft stuggles will be why this team will not get any further than divisional round........AGAIN

Cap boy thinking he is being smart signing injured players at a “discount” is killing us.
Because Dallas is struggling with the draft, Jones over pays for aging vets and then tries to fill HUGE holes with Dollar General players.

Well, we're definitely gonna need a RB. Round 2 or 3 if there's one there. Needs to be able to block and be elusive and pound. Catching would be nice.

You are plenty generous in your 1 bad game description .as far the future starter claims maybe bass can take one of the weak spots

I’d rather play him at center instead of Tyler biadasz but I don’t know if it’s in his wheelhouse

Edoga sucks but you're right cowboys addressed it
They just did it poorly

Not sure who you considering this other starter

Tyron isn't reliable, but you have to keep playing him because he still blocks at a HOF level whenever he's on the field.

Tyler Smith is a monster, what he's doing in only year 2 is incredible and the sky is the limit for him. He could be a great one.

I am torn about Biadasz. On one hand, he's frankly not that good. On the other, OL continuity is important, and rookie centers usually take a season to develop. Veteran center salaries are fairly cheap too. So I'd almost rather just pay him than bother replacing him.

Martin is slowing down, but his decline is better than most guards' peak. Not a concern for now.

Steele has an albatross of a contract, that we need to get out of ASAP.

Overall, I think finding a tackle is one of the top priorities for this team. Interior OL should be fine if we resign Biadasz.

I have been wondering if the Cowboys offensive line issues stem from the hiring of a new offensive line coach. I agree they can use an upgrade a C though.

CAP space is going to influence a lot of the Cowboys decisions next year. They cannot sign all their own free agents. They will go with Steele and Martin, maybe find a C in the draft. They should upgrade their swing tackle. Edoga is not the guy.

What they need is for the young guys to improve. Ball looked pretty good at RG before he got hurt, but he always gets hurt. I thought Asim Richards showed promise and if he improves maybe he takes over for Tyron, but that is asking a lot.

The problem is the Cowboys need to address a few positions in the draft but they only have 1 pick on day 3.
