When Tyron Smith didn’t play why didn’t Tyler Smith move to LT and let Edoga who’s played the last two games as LG? If I remember correctly Edoga did not play well as LT in training camp. If Tyler is our future LT why isn’t he moved there? He did well last year as out starting LT. This combo may have served the OL better both in pass pro and run.

The thinking was Edoga practiced all week at LT and they didn't want to make the switch on Saturday when Tyron injury happened. Also Tyler is not the future LT they have made the decision to make him a gaurd and keep him there from what I recall.

Possible. But don‘t you think Tyler is a better LT than Edoga? And Edoga is actually a better G than T?

That was a head scratche for sure, I'll assume the coaches know something I don't.

I think they need to rethink this arrangement for better run and pass blocking If Tyron‘s going to be out.

I have been impressed with the performance of the OL so far this year. Whatever the coaches are doing is working.

I think the Cowboys believe Tyler is a better guard than tackle. Our future left tackle will be drafted next season.

I don't understand all the discussion about the OL. I missed the first quarter but after that, the OL was not a significant problem. In fact, seems most people were pretty impressed with Bass & Hoffman.

As @Cowboyny said in another thread, they had Hoffman at OC. Maybe that played into the decision.

I don't believe they plan to keep Tyler at OG longterm unless they end up with an elite young LT.

It wouldn't have made any difference. The run blocking was fine and the scheme limited what would have been any difference at LT.

I think it was like someone else said, because if when the injury occurred they decided against further shuffling. I also don't think that they wanted all 3 interior line positions to be non-starters. Think they wanted some continuity on the interior.

I get it, but those guys played well. Wonder what's up with Asim at LT? Seems like it was a good opportunity to develop Richards like Bass got.

D was largely responsible for losing the game but IMO our OL was definitely subpar. Too many holding penalties that put us in 2nd or 3rd and long situations. I also think OL play limited McCarthy's playbook. Lot of short/underneath routes and rarely testing AZ secondary. This eventually allow AZ D to clamp down on Dallas O. OL weakness very evident when we can't score from inside 5 yd line. IMO.

My assumption is that Tyron's injury was so late in the week. Tyler had already been practicing as the LG and Edoga was already backing up Tyron in practice. They didn't want to shuffle it any more that late in the week. But I don't agree with the decision. Edoga should be an emergency LT only.

Tyler hasn't practiced at left tackle all camp, the better question is why ddn't Asim Richards start at left tackle instead of Edoga who isn't a tackle. Why Dallas continues to place a square peg into a round hole with Edoga escapes me...
