Old wide receivers...

I constantly see people acting like we have some state of emergency because our starting wideouts are both over 30, and I just wonder what the big deal is about this. Torry Holt and Hines Ward are both 30. Muhsin Muhammed, like T.O., will be 33. Joe Horn and Marvin Harrison are both 34. My point is, receivers don't get hit like running backs do, and 32 or 33 just means they know what the heck they are doing for the most part. Don't try to tell me Terry Glenn and T.O. are slow and old, because I can clearly see that they're both playmakers.

Besides, it's not as if we don't have young guys developing. Crayton seems to have fallen off a bit, but Jamaica Rector is a Terry Glenn clone in the making, and Sam Hurd is trying to learn how to work out from T.O., and if he can get half the size of T.O., and work hard at getting better, we'll be set for a long time, without having gambled on a high round pick that may or may not even work out.

I can see Owens and Glenn as our starting wideouts for another 2 or 3 years, easily. I'm just glad we have a defense that's young and full of studs. Even our O-line, when you consider Mcquistan could be the future LT, and Proctor being the RG, is a bunch of guys in their 20s.

I think the issue is that WRs take time to develop and we haven't used a high pick on one in a long time. I REALLY hope one or more of our young guys pan out but they are all pretty much longshots at this point.

Why are they longshots? Why,any more than some draft pick who has never caught an NFL pass? Performance should be the criteria, and a couple of them have performed pretty well for the team.

Well, Crayton and Rector are not rookies but they have yet to do anything in the NFL. Hurd was an undrafted rookie and that by definition is a longshot.

Well, as long as they don't go on as long as Jerry Rice and Tom Brown.

Those two were starting to look like Keith Richard and Ron Wood.

They're longshots because that's what the odds say. It is a rarity that low draft picks and undrafted FA's ever become elite receivers. You will find a couple of exceptions but most become #3 receivers at best.

Wide receiver may very well be the Cowboys' top priority heading into the offseason.

Tell that to David Givens, and i bet he disagrees.

That 7th round pick in NO from Hofstra is likely to be the rookie of the year unless Marooney starts having more games like yesterday.

I'll take Leinart for 1000 Alex.

If I was Givens I would retire he totally sold out on the end around when he saw roy coming.

I agree, now's the time to start using a 1st day pick on a potential #1 WR while we still have Glenn and TO in their primes for 2-3 years, so that he can develop as the #3/4 WR

No way. Colston is on pace for a 1,000+ yard season as a 7th round rookie.

I'm going with Qwickdraw, I'll put my money on Greg Jennings for ROy

Leinart hasn't been in a position to make his case yet and the season is still young.

I just don't think the rest of that Arizona Cardinals team is going to give him much of a chance to do so.
