They would be AWESOME for us Who fans... problem is he's been dead for over 30 years...

Ever since Beijing put on one of the most spectacular coordinated displays in human history at the 2008 Olympic opening ceremony, observers have wondered how London could possibly improve on it. This would be a start.

Organizers for the 2012 ceremony recently asked the manager of The Who if legendary drummer Keith Moon would be able to perform at the London Games. It was a fine idea, except that Moon has been dead for 34 years.

Bill Curbishley told The Times how he responded to the request.

"I emailed back saying Keith now resides in Golders Green crematorium, having lived up to The Who's anthemic line 'I hope I die before I get old,'" he said. "If they have a round table, some glasses and candles, we might contact him."

That's well done, Bill. Well done.

Raising someone from the dead would be a spectacular start to the London games. They should do it.

I would finally be interested in the Olympics if that happened. While they're at it, maybe a duo with John Bonham?

Keith Moon great drummer and character. Makes me wonder about the people running the Olympics. Ever heard this new invention called Google.

Can you imagine Keith Moon restraining himself in a dignified manner to represent England and the Olympic traditions?

They really did not know anything about the man did they?

That's the first thing... The Who are arguably the second most iconic band in Europe, depending on taste (Beatles #1)... how could these buggers not know he is dead?

Second... if he WERE alive, he would most certainly misbehave... it's what he did...

This once again proves that those in power are out of touch...

I can't believe someone didn't know Keith Moon was dead. I thought maybe they possibly meant his son (if he had a son). But, a quick Google search revealed that he only had a daughter.

Interestingly, I learned that "his [Moon's] godson whom he taught to play the drums is Zak Starkey son of Ringo Starr [who]currently plays with both the who and Oasis." (according to wikianswers, don't know if true or not).

Also, I saw an article recently on the internet where Paul McCartney's son would like to form a band with Ringo's son, Harrison's son, and Lennon's son. They showed a picture and each looked a lot like their father's. That would be pretty cool if those 4 got together and made some music.

Sooo... while I was joking, it looks like they can raise the dead if they're willing to use technology.

At the Coachella concert recently, they brought Tupac to life and he been dead since 1996. I'd post the vid, but the language is inappropriate.

So anything is possible if they're willing to pay for it.

Well I did say arguably, and you also have the Stones along with Led Zep... all three can be interchanged by preference but all are far behind the Beatles... and I'm not a huge fan of the Fab Four...
