They sound very insecure. If they gave a decent salary to Smith then they wouldn't have to worry about losing Smith.

Either way, he still has a year on his contract. I don't think Lovie or Fisher will available next year for anyone other than their current teams.

Yep... sounds like they may be scrambling...

They should have redone his deal last year and they decided to wait it out. They came in at the last minute and wanted to redo his deal a couple of weeks ago.

He told them no thanks that they could do something after the season.

If he choses not to re-up, it is their own fault and there nothing they could do about it.
