Maybe I should get questioned for posting FA wants but it would be interesting to see Jerry enter the "big time" FA game. Chris Jones would be the PERFECT addition to this team. I know, I know... Dallas has to hand out huge deals to Cee Dee, Micah etc. but just once I'd like to see Dallas do something huge in FA.

Too late, already gave the money to Steele, Gallup, and Wilson. We really like our guys.

But in all seriousness, that's your answer. They can't sign big outside free agents because they won't stop handing out stupid contracts internally.

I agree, Chris Jones would help the defense in a number of ways. I also believe the front office could make it work, if they were inclined to do so.

Gallup and Steele contracts was so stupid. Especially to guys coming off of a big time injury. Steele really had what 1 good year so we vastly overpaid for him.

Dallas doesn't usually do much in fa but they did ok this offseason. Dallas usually builds only through the draft. The draft is more for the future and Fa is for the now. They need a good mix of both.

We also have to pay an emergency QB $5M next year.

Resigning players is very similar to signing free agents. The problem is why like our guys way to much, especially the ones coming off an injury or are injury prone. Then we like to waste our 2nd round pick often on more injured players that fell in the draft.

The genius of Stephen Jones at work. Same guy who said, " I think you're overpaying in free agency most of the time. [Free agents] are overvalued, because you're competing in a market where you've got teams that don't have as many players they have to spend on, have to use cap space on".
Then goes and overpays almost everyone who got a second contract here. Some at FA value.

One thing to be shrewd and objective, but they rather overpay their own than god-forbid pay an outsider market value.

It’s so ridiculous.

He talks about free agency like it’s an Ebay auction. Every Cowboy player’s agent already knows what other teams are willing to pay them before they hit free agency. The price doesn’t randomly go up once they’re on the market. You either look at the price tag and decide to pay it, or someone else does.

The same thing is true for every other team’s players, too. You either pay them what they already know they’re going to get or you don’t get them. Our guys aren’t magically cheaper than the other ones just because they’re already here. This is just another way they like to lie to and manipulate the fan base.

Won't happen but would really signal this FO is willing to let go of their stubborn stances and truly wants to win a championship.

I'd even settle for a major trade acquisition. Eagles for AJ Brown, 49ers for Christian McCaffery.

Brandon Cooks and Stephon Gilmore were very nice pick-up's but would not qualify as a major trade acquisition.

The truth is that he is awful at contract negotiations. By sitting out of premium free agency, he is actually just trying to limit the chances he has to get his behind handed to him.
