One Night in Bangmock

[TheSport78]

1. Tyron Smith, OT, USC

Our franchise tackle with ridiculous upside.

Trade down in the 2nd, pick up an extra 3rd and 4th

2. Ras-I Dowling, CB, Virginia

Durability concerns will push him down a bit, but if healthy, is a playmaker.

3a. Will Rackley, OG, Lehigh

The Cowboys like him, and he has tons of upside.

3b. Kenrick Ellis, DE/DT, Hampton

Could slide because of off the field issues. Fills an important need on the defensive line. Could eventually move Ratliff to DE.

4a. Quinton Carter, S, Oklahoma

We need a hard hitter in the secondary. Carter is fearless.

4b. Kelvin Sheppard, ILB, LSU

Reminds me of Bradie James; durable and productive.

5. Edmond Gates, WR, Abilene Christian

A speedy, slot WRis desperately needed in Big D. Johnny Knox anyone?

6. Bilal Powell, RB, Louisville

RB depth will be needed with Barber being released.

7a. Greg McElroy, QB, Alabama

A very smart QB that Garrett will be tempted to draft.

7b. Bruce Miller, OLB, UCF

You can't have enough pass rushers in the NFL.

[Gaede]

I really like the Rackley, Powell, Gates and Dowling picks. Very good!

Thank you sir!

[AsthmaField]

I really like the Smith and Powell picks. I sincerely hope both guys end up as Cowboys.

I probably would go somewhere else in the 2nd. I like Dowling, but I think 40 is too high for him.

I like Rackley too, but John Moffitt is a 'ready to play' guy from a big conference and school that is known for producing very good NFL OL. If both Moffitt and Rackley are available, I hope the team goes with the Wisconsin G.

[realtick]

That would be a nice haul of players.

Over the years, how many players do we actually draft that come in for visits or that we're supposed to be very interested in?

Like we knew if he fell last year like he did, Dez would be our pick. So it did happen.

There were great indications it was either Merriman or Ware. Ware was the pick.

Robertson or Newman with our 5th overall was who we were targeting. top 5 is a lot easier to figure out. Newman was the pick.

Roy Williams 31, all indications it was him and it was.

So, about 50 percent of the time we have 1 or 2 guys we are sure the organization is going to pick and it holds up.

After the first, we're usually wrong.

I'm obviously 1 of Smith's biggest detractors but overall the mock is very good. I just don't think our draft is as clear as who we bring in and report to like.

IMHO I don't think it happens this way. Not a bad grab of players, but it's never this clear cut.

Yeah, no mock will ever be 100% correct. But I have a feeling the Cowboys hope Will Rackley is on the board in the 3rd round when they're on the clock. I wouldn't be upset with John Moffitt either because of his ability to play center. Rackley intrigues me, and I think he could play from day 1 at guard for us.

Agreed, I do too. I get the feeling our coaches like him alot. I just watched an interview with him, he seems smart and a good guy to boot

This title sounds dirty ....

It looks like a well thought out draft, I would change the front half a bit, but here it goes. It looks like the trade down you made in the 2nd would be with Baltimore at #58, getting their #90 and #123 pick as well, if the value chart holds up.

I would copy most of the draft from the 4th pick on down, it looks solid.

I would trade down out of the # 9 pick myself, with San Diego to get #18 and #50. Trading again to #29 would yield the #61 pick as well. Then it would look like this.

1st
#29. Nate Solder, OT, Colorado picking up a RT at 29 makes more sense than getting an RT at 9. Free is fine at LT. We have another starter

2nd
#40 - Marcus Cannon,
Fireplug at guard, replace Davis. The most athletic 360 pound guard.

#50 - Rahim Moore, S or Marvin Austin/Phil Taylor NT
Best Safety in the draft, or shore up the D-Line

#61 - Curtis Brown, CB
32 PBU, 3rd highest of all corners, not many picks though.

3rd
#71 -Demarco Murray, RB or Jarvis Jenkins DT (high TFL productivity)
Bring in a new RB or continue to infuse youth into the D-Line.

4a. Quinton Carter, S, Oklahoma or Kelvin Sheppard, ILB, LSU

This gets an A+ from me on name alone. One of my all time favorite 1 hit wonder songs.

Can't say i'm a big fan of this one. I think the best talent, value wise, is right in the beginning of the second.

Solder is crap. I like the original waaaaaaaaaaaay more.
Gimme Rackley over Cannon, i like Dowling over Brown and a SS in Carter over Moore so long as we get Huff.

I'm with ya. I don't trust Cannon to keep his weight under control. The last thing we need is an overweight, unathletic, space-eating guard. We need more athleticism on the offensive line. It starts with Tyron Smith!
