Currently, Jason Peters is on the Practice Squad, which means his "official" contract is $358,200, which breaks down to $19,900 per week over an 18 week season. I believe that is the veteran maximum. We won't know what the "unofficial" agreement is until the Cowboys activate him to the active roster.

I expect that he'll get a veteran minimum contract of $1.12 million ($65,882 per game), plus roster bonuses for each week that he is on the active roster, plus an additional roster bonus if he's active for minimum of (X) number of games.

Note - This is NOT his contract, but just an example of what a contract could look like:

$__39,800 - Week 1 & Week 2: $19,900 each game on the practice squad
$_988,235 - Weeks 3-18: Pro-rated share of 10+ year veteran minimum at $1.12M
$_750,000 - Weekly Roster bonuses of $50,000 per game = 15 x $50,000
$_500,000 - One-time Roster bonus if he's active for 8 games
$2,278,035 - Total salary if he's on the active roster for 15 games.

He could get additional performance bonuses for playing 30 snaps in a game, or for starting games, that could push his total compensation up close to $3M, say $50K per game for the maximum of an additional $750K for 15 games.

well stephen should be happy with that deal !!!!
He lives in texas, so it is a local job for him..
I am curious to see how he does, and he should be good tutor for tyler, or any other young OT's that wind up playing.

I suspect the Cowboys have already given Peters a minimum amount he'll make this year, and already agreed to a schedule to activate him, with a salary structure that is similar to what I offered as an example. Could the salary be more than the minimum? Yes. Could the bonuses be different, or have different incentives? Sure. But the Cowboys have a history of converting "salary" into weekly roster bonuses for veteran players. It is called "shared risk." The Cowboys risk paying more if the player stays healthy. The player risks getting paid less if he gets hurt, or is cut because he cannot continue to play at a high level. I would bet there is a floor and a ceiling in his contract.

Interesting speculation.
Be fun to see how close you got, once his contract is made public.

Not so. His affiliation with the Cowboys will be recognized, as much as his affiliation with the Eagles, when he's enshrined.
I'm hoping that the bookends of Smith and Parsons turn the 'rook' Smith into a future bookend for Larry Allen.

That smells pretty sweet for the Dallas Cowboys offensive line for this season.

This fan knows there will be plenty of passing. I'm also excited in looking forward to a very strong running game as well.
