BREAKING NEWS Cowboys - Osa Odighizuwa agree to terms

One thing about OSA in terms of sacks....If we round up half sacks OSA has totals of 3,5,3 and 7 in his career.

Other players rookie contract totals:

Javon Hargrave - 3,3,7,4 (Hit double digits year 6)
Quinnen Williams - 3,8,7,13
Ed Oliver - 6,3,6,5 (Hit double digits year 5)
Jalen Carter - 7,7
Christin Wilkins - 2,2,5,7 (Hit double digits year 5)
Milton Williams - 2,4,2,8
Dexter Lawrence - 3,4,3,9

Obviously we want to find the next Chris Jones or Aaron Donald who come in day 1 and dominate, but most of these guys, even many of the better interior players in the league do not rack up heavy sack number consistently and often find them taking 3-5 years before they see those sacks totals really start to hit. As long as the pressure rates stay up there is a real chance that we see an uptick in his sack totals year 5 as has happened with other guys with similar metrics.
Good post!

I don't get the hate. Osa took a discount to be a Cowboy and some of you still whining lol. Dak took maximum market price. CeeDee to near maximum market price. Parsons will get near maximum. Osa left 20% on the table...20%. If you don't like the player fine, but it's done and maybe if he was taking on combo blocks in the run game he'd have a better rating, so you want to see a damn good NT drafted or signed to maximize Osa n Parsons.

4 years 52 guaranteed im ok with this as long as we draft another 3T and 1T

He can be an important part of a great rotation
Agreed. This contract was about what could be expected. It's just a question of whether it is used as an excuse to not draft a DT early in this strong class. Yes, it might not fall right for us to get one in the first (depending on our player ratings), but there's no reason to not take one at least in the second and one later.

We have successfully brought back the same DT tandem that gets bullied every week.

Cowboys!
Or maybe pair him with another DT that's better - one with the quality of a Dexter Lawrence or Vita Vea. The same people crying about this signing would have been fine if we signed Milton Williams, who has the benefit of playing next to Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis.

It is truly confusing.
I expected 1 of 3 results given our front office.

Most Likely: We tag Osa at 25M, SJ says we have no free agent money. 3 weeks into FA after 80% of the pool is signed, we agree to extend Osa at 88M over 4 years. (but only after leaks suggesting he might enjoy making out with farm animals)
Less Likely: We tag Osa, wait 2 weeks into free agency then remove tag and let him become a free agent. Net an R4 comp pick for him after he signs a team friendly deal with Dan Quinn.
Only the Cowboys option: We tag him and force him to play the year out at a cost of 25M on the cap.

So draft 2 DTs and ignore other positions of need? If he wasn't signed you are playing an underachieving DT that no one likes and a couple rookies. He was a must signing and the price was fair.
Ok. So lets roll with same group that brought us a bottom 5 defense but at a higher price? Where has that worked? Osi isn't an underachieving DT? What has he achieved? Did I miss a pro bowl selection? He's a JAG being paid like a star.

This defense needed to get blown up like Washington did last off season.

Osa, the mediocre at best starter, has had 2, 4, 3 and the whopping career year of 4.5 sacks last year. (He was ballin for a new contract.)

I suppose you could round up the last year to 15 if you want and it still won't change the absolute fact that we we just handed a massive 2nd contract to an undersized/poor run defender and mediocre pass rusher.

Lol, like Washington getting Armstrong and Fowler from our team. You missed that Osa doesn't cost much on the cap this year and gives them more money to spend.
