Our 1st and 2nd Down Defense is So Much Better When Michah's at LB

I was watching the Bucs game footage with Kurt Warner talking X and Os. And while that wasn't our best game, it was a decent game for the defense, who held Brady to 17 points. When I see Micah Parsons at LBer, playing the run or the pass at LB, it makes it that much more difficult to defend against than with him coming off the EDGE.

When I see Micah at DE, I see 20 other guys throughout the league and a handful of guys from our team, who could provide the kind of pressure he provides from the outside, especially when you know he's coming, and those guys can actually play the run from the EDGE too.

I think Quinn has made a big mistake moving too many guys around. And if Micah does end up playing LB, he's going to be rusty out there, because he's been playing DE the whole time this year. I don't know.. Just seems strange to me to see Micah make the full-time switch to EDGE, and I have a feeling we're going to end up regretting it.

You mean when people stay in their Gap the runner has no lanes?

Imagine that .......

Sure, but Micah also isn't the best run defender from the DE position. He's primarily a pass rusher. Plays a lot better when he's at LB and can make tackles on the runner from that position.

I understand the coaches wanting him rushing most of the time…heck he led the NFL in pressures.

Problem is I’m worried about us ruining his career playing him out of of position since he’s undersized.

I think he should be our Will LBr and just rush a lot.

I'm talking about for the playoffs. I know people are beating this topic to death, but it should be a big issue. He makes us better against the run, and we can get those pressures with other players, like Williams, if you give them the chance.

That’s fine I’m just talking more long term so we don’t ruin Parsons.

That being said he still needs to rush the passer a lot. No one on the roster is giving us the production he does as a pass rusher.

I agree on both. He needs to rush the passer. I liked it when they rushed him from everywhere, though.

And he's a beast at LB. I just want to see him more at LB and less at DE.

while we don’t need him against Brady…. If we advance vs teams like the giants 49ers and eagles he has to play more lb and stop the run… go sideline to sideline. Limit the mobility of the qbs and make them beat you with their arms

I'm just saying. We need Parsons and LVE against the run.. Has to happen. Or we're gonna get trounced whoever we play.

The Bucs are most definitely going to try and run it.

I agree but I don’t think Micah doesn’t have the gas left to play it in the playoffs

I think it was more necessity initially but he’s played way to many reps at DE and it’s hurt his effectiveness
He’s better coming from lots of places rather than lining up on a 300 lb OT 80% of the reps

Even when Quinn leaves him at LB he blitzes him. It is way too predictable.

Teams are able to adjust their protections cause they know he’s coming.

Imagine a team doubling micah but he never rushes. May open things up for others
