Our Defense did a decent job.. but we need more "ankle breaking" and "jaw dislocating" hitters... Diggs not separating Kittle from the ball on the pass play was a game changing moment (digs ducked again). Look how hard the niners hit and how they finish tackles - like the one they broke Polards leg on. I remember in the Jacksonville game where the receiver caught the ball and headed toward the sideline and instead of our db getting to the WR to ground with the "ankle breaking method"... he just went along for the ride out of bounds to stop the clock. Need a few more dogs on defense...

On the other side of the ball we got bullied again and Dak showed his stripes again with throwing int's.....

I like the way Bland was laying the wood at the CB position. He do need to realize to not tackle they player that far out of bounds. But he was laying wood.

I would change the title to “ the Defense Played Great,,,but Dak”

the defense gave up a measly 113 rushing yards and under 200 passing yards and only 19 points to a team that has at least 4 players tops in YAC……but ya can’t beat them with just 1 TD

this tread should be stickied because by next season there will still be some with short memories blaming the loss on the defense. It would be a convenient false narrative

They did an all world job in the first half. 2nd half not so much. 2 dropped easy picks and caved in the 4th.

Dak threw 2 picks in the 1st half. In the 3rd quarter it was tied 9-9. Once Pollard went down the offense was neutered.

The defense played well enough to win but the guy that supposed to get us over the hump was the one digging our grave.

They did a fine job all game. They were let down by the offense and their QB.

And while yes, technically, they scored a TD in the 4th, much of that drive was in the 3rd Q. They scored on the first play of the 4th Q. And that was after the D got the 49ers three and out only to have the offense quickly hand the ball right back to the 49ers offense after just 4 plays and using only about 1 minute and 15 seconds of playing time.

The offense failed. Dak failed. The defense did more than enough to win holding one of the highest scoring teams in the 2nd half of the NFL season to just 19 points.

So when Diggs dropped the pick in his lap, that was good? When Diggs put his head down and whiffed on the tackle for the TE in the biggest play of the game that was good? When the defense caved for 10 points in the 4th that was good? Another pick in the hands dropped that was good?

Niners D outplayed our D by a little and their offense outplayed our offense by a little. To me the difference was 4 picks. 2 that Dak made and 2 that the defenese missed.

And then of course Pollard getting hurt.

We lost to the better team. No shame. Move on.

Well, I think the Cowboys did churn some soft players already and maybe this offseason they will do it again. It was unfortunate that it was Diggs on the play because Donovan Wilson would have made that play. But it is what it is.

Schultz showed me he is soft. I am okay with him laving in free agency. I don't care if he and Dak have a good rapport. Dak needs to get comfortable with Ferguson and Hendershot. I would bet money that if it was Ferguson catching that pass at the end, he finds a way to get out of bound to stop the clock. And also get both feet down on the next play. That sequence from Schultz really bothers me.

But overall lI agree with you. Even Micah is not a big hitter. That is something the defensive coordinator can encourage though.

Defense played well. Dak was flat so the offense was flat. Considering Dallas was outcoached they hung in there pretty well. If we had just about any other QB in the league playing for us we would of won that game by 14. There was plenty of points to be had if Dak could of just connected with/seen the receivers...

And we're probably going to lose the only violent tackler on the entire defense when D.Wilson leaves via free agency.

As for the game, the defense was lights out in the 1st half. 2nd half Shanahan clearly made an adjustment in the running game. That and the defense sorta wore down a bit led to more success for SF. Overall, giving up only 19 points on the road, you expect to win that game.

Why do we expect 2000 Ravens level from our defense but we can't expect top level QB play and coaching? That was the best defensive performance I've seen in a divisional round in years from the Cowboys.

Dak doesn't gift them 3 and hits on just one of the plays that were there for the taking and the defense would be celebrated as we talk about the upcoming NFCC game.

Dak should be buying them all Rolexes and begging for forgiveness.
