5 years ago, if this thought EVER flashed through our minds, we would be NUTS, HOWEVER--

Nonetheless, who would have THOUGHT that NOW, we're FINALLY making personnel moves in the draft et al NOT in the "George Steinbrenner mentality", but we're nonetheless taking a page out of the better FOs in the league and building a foundation for our FUTURE(i.e. this year's draft of Spencer, LT Free, Stanback, OT Marten, etc). Heck, even Parcells couldn't even do a half*** job with this.

Thank You Jeff Ireland and Lance Lacewell(sp). Has Jerry finally learned his lesson? YES! Heck-we still have some holes to fill, but at least we're approaching it the right way.

I can't wait to see how this team looks in '09, when our new stadium comes to Arlington.

Larry Lacewell????? :ralph: :puke:

I wouldn't say Jethro:eek:: has learned his lesson, he's still the GM and he's still making the final call in the war room on draft day. And if Lacewell is still involved in any way, then that's another sign Jethro:eek:: hasn't learned any lesson, but relapsed.

None of these guys have even played a down of football in the regular season and we've already marked them as the foundation for our future? While that is what the draft is for, I expect players to prove they are worthy before I declare them the foundation of the Cowboys. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited about how we did in the draft as much as the next guy, I'm not just ready to declare these guys the starters of tomorrow.

didn't parcells draft guys like newman and ware

There has been a lot of debate about that; some sources have claimed that BP feared that Spears would be grabbed before we could get to him with the 20th pick. Unfortunately Ware had started to get major buzz after the combine and BP and JJ agreed that they did not dare let him go past our first pick. Its beginning to look like Spears is not what we now need at DE- as far as pressuring the QB is concerned. He plays the run well, but does not seem to be able to get pressure on any consistent basis. It may be that Spears becomes another Ellis - solid guy but not what we had hoped to get with such a high pick.

if Spears does not get 6 sacks and consistent qb hurries/pressure THIS YEAR...he will never see contract #2 in Dallas..heck he will be benched before the year is out in favor of Hatcher is he does produce in the first 6 - 8 games.

how did this team miss on guys like Colston, Hester, Jacoby Jones... WR/PR has been a need for years upon years!!!

While guys like Hurd and Miles make the team every year!!!
