So which team would need a QB and trade for Dak.

Trade - Send Dak Prescott and Michael Gallup and #56 to Atlanta for pick #8, #43, $79 and #109. Make it that Dak and Gallup are a post June 1st addition (can be done). Our cap hit for 2024 is roughly $30 million after trade for those 2 and roughly $45 million in 2025. Cap projection via Vegas odds is $256 million in 2024 and $282 million in 2025.

We make Trey Lance the new QB. It is a one year deal basically to see how he does and if he fails then we should be drafting high enough to grab a QB in 2025 draft.

Needs LT, true make a difference DT1, CB, WR with speed and good hands, OC

Free agency - please Jerry get a true DT1, sign Justin Madubuike DT and Jaylon Johnson CB.

#8 Joe Alt LT Notre Dame - great size, great feet, should anchor the left side for at least 10 years/can resign Tyron Smith to vet minimum for a year if needed
#24 Brian Thomas Jr WR LSU - great size, yac demon, good to great speed, great height would add a great compliment to Lamb
#43 Jackson Powers-Johnson OC Oregon - can play all positions on the line but excels at line calls as a center and doesn't get pushed back
#79 Josh Newton CB TCU - underrated guy and could really be the guy to replace Lewis
#87 Junior Colson ILB Michigan - great run stopper should take over for LVE
#109 Braelon Allen RB Wisconsin - would be a nice compliment if we resign Pollard or Dowdle
#171 Joe Milton III QB Tennessee - loads of potential
#212 Clay Webb OG Jacksonville St - built like and plays like T.J. Bass
#230 Dallas Gant OLB Toledo - good special team guy
#241 Evan Anderson DT1 Florida Atlantic - could be a huge find or just another guy

Just an over reaction

Take trading Dak out of your equation.
Jerry ain't taking the salary cap hit and every team in the league wouldn't trade for him for the same reason we want to trade him.

You can manipulate the cap hit to an extent. On the flipside, any team acquiring Dak gets a pretty decent QB contract that doesn't lock them in for years and for huge cap hits.

If Philly can move a turd like Wentz for what they got for him, to think Dak is untradeable is kind of silly.

Howie Roseman wins in trades. Jerry doesn't

To a degree, sure, but Jerry would be trading the more valuable asset.

Plus, you claimed that teams wouldn't trade for him for the reasons we want to get rid of him, but that's false. Teams, including QB desperate ones, always will take chances on guys. Wentz was a total turd and yet Indy was willing to take a chance on him. Then he flamed out in Indy and the Commanders then gave up a 2nd and 3rd round pick for him.

To act like Dak is untradeable in a league where teams are QB desperate is a bit preposterous.

You can trade Dak but you ain't getting anyone to give you anything close to what you want.

What do I want?

More than anything, I just want him off the books and to start over. So if I can get a 2nd and 3rd rounder for him, I'd take in a heart beat. I suspect they'd do better because he has more value than Wentz did when he was traded.

But I don't need a haul. I just need a fresh start and his contract off the books.

The only back 7 upgrade is jaylon johnson? No thank you. He doesn't move any needle. Put him on the field Sunday and the same thing happens

The league knows that the Cowboys have zero leverage. They also know Jerry negotiates in public and is impatient.

If a team wants Dak, they will wait the Cowboys out, acquire him for nothing and for a lot less than a $58M cap hit in 2024.

I don't believe you can designate someone a June 1st move in a trade. Only an early release.

They would literally have to wait to complete the trade afer June 1st. Pretty smart way to go into March free agency and the April draft, hoping for a miracle trade in June.

Team acquiring him doesn’t have a 58 million cap hit.

Only 34 million.

Dak’s cap hit is 59 million. But 25 million of that is the prorated bonus (12 million) and the restructure (13 million).

Any team acquiring him is only obligated to take a cap hit for his base salary of 29 million and then the roster bonus of 5 million.

But in theory, if Dallas traded him after the roster bonus is paid, then the acquiring team is only on hook for 29 million.

Im a big Dak fan but Im fine moving him. Give him a chance with a competent franchise so he doesn’t rot here. Eat some salary and get a 2nd round pick.

Honestly within the realm of possibility compared to most scenarios like this. Appreciate the effort, obviously doubt Dallas does it but I would love if if we could pull something like this off.
