While most of the mock drafts by national pundits have the Panthers taking a defensive lineman with the top pick, that is not necessarily the thinking within the organization according to Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer.

Despite a need at defensive tackle, the Panthers' decision-makers are not sold on the idea of drafting a D-lineman at No. 1, a pair of league sources said this week.

As general manager Marty Hurney stated at the Senior Bowl in January, the Panthers want an impact player – and health issues surrounding a couple of the top defensive linemen have called into question how much of an impact they might make.

If that was the pick, I could see Denver trading down with a team wanting Bowers. Fox has said he feels set With Dumerville and Ayers. But Can they pass on Bowers?

So much more than physical ability goes into that pick.

You don't take a confirmed cheater, thief and liar with the #1 pick in the draft and give him millions of $$$ and expect him to be the leader of your franchise. This guy has red flags all around him.

But he's not an icon.

Luck staying in school really wreaked that franchise's plans cause there isn't a true #1 pick this year.

Would not be shocked at all if they did take Cam. They are in need of a QB and that team needs a star type player to bring in the fans.

I think it would be stupid on their part, but I could see it happening.

I really doubt Rivera takes him unless he is over ruled. I remember that he was never all that impressed by Vick and what is Newton but a bigger vick?
