Video: Passenger lands small plane after pilot falls ill

LONDON (AP) — A passenger with no flying experience safely landed a light airplane at a British airport after the pilot became incapacitated, officials said Wednesday.

The plane, carrying two people, issued a mayday call as it returned to the Sandtoft airfield in northeast England on Tuesday evening.

Unfortunately the pilot has since passed away.

On another note, the "Mythbusters" did an episode a couple of years ago and confirmed that a passenger with NO flying expirence could land a plane safely with help over the radio like in "Airplane"

With today's technology, it seems that it would be pretty straight-forward talking someone down. I think I could do it if someone walked me through. Which would be harder to land with no experience, a commercial plane or a two-seater? I would think the small one due to winds. There are less gizmos but the big planes practically land themselves with the correct flap positions, speed and a close eye on the altimeter.
