ormer women's basketball players at Tennessee are getting calls Tuesday that Volunteers coach Pat Summitt, 59, has been diagnosed with early onset dementia.
In a statement from Summitt released by the university on Tuesday, the Hall of Fame coach said she plans to coach the Lady Vols during the 2011-12 season, but might have some "limitations." She said that she went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., in May.

59. Damn shame to get locked in that mental prison so young. Her poor dog's come down with Narcolepsy to add insult.

This will be it for her. Hope she can win the title this year and retire.

Yeah, not sure how she can coach much more than a year, if that. A family friend of our's was diagnosed with dimentia and it just doesn't look good for him.

That's quite an announcement. Remarkable and truly courageous.

Here's wishing her only the best.
