Patriots pull a fast one, on middle schoolers

A bunch of kids at Lebanon Middle School in Connecticut got fired up to participate in the NFL's "Fuel Up to Play 60" program -- more than half of the kids at the school, in fact.

And because their participation rate was so high, they thought they won the right to have some real, actual New England Patriots come to their school. I imagine the youngsters thought they'd be mingling with Tom Brady, Randy Moss, Wes Welker ... at the very least, a Tully Banta-Cain or a Julian Edelman.

Nope. They got an intern. He brought some exercise videos. Enjoy, kids!

Just another reason to hate the Patriots. They promise the kids a visit from the Patriots and they send an intern.... not even a coach or a 3rd stringer/practice teamer..... an intern.....

why are we shocked by this? The patriots told you they were scum, why is this a problem? If someone tells you and proves to you without a shadow of a doubt they are scum, why even have a hard time trying to believe they are not?

I'm not surprised that the Patriots would pull a stunt like this. It's appaling to mislead children like that though.

The article says at the end in an update that the Patriots were not at fault.

UPDATE: As it turns out, the Patriots weren't at fault here. The New England Dairy Council, who also sponsored the event, says the miscommunication is their fault. Gary Wheelock, the group's CEO, has aplogized, said that the group will try to make amends to the kids, and apologized to the Patriots for subjecting them to negative press.
