Pats to start Mankins: Trade Bait or Good Faith Gesture?

They aren't even pretending to punish him, which means they could either be saying they have faith in him and want him to stay or they are showing him off in attempts to lure some kind of sign-and-trade instead of just letting him go for nothing.

I honestly don't even think the Cowboys are interested. I don't think they are going to do a heck of a lot in terms of getting FA linemen in here or trading for a guy. We'll probably see a pretty similar starting five up there next season, but I sure hope not.

I'm not on the "Trade for Mankins" bandwagon, just thought it'd be interesting for those that are.

He's not going anywhere this season unless the Pats flat out release him. I'm assuming he only signed to accrue another year. Isn't he a free agent after this season?

The trade deadline passed and he's a FA next season.

Their #1 priority is to win games unless the Cowboys who are still starting Marion Barber so he doesn't get mad at them.

"Sign and Trade" guys, geez. ;)

Yes he's a FA after the season, an UFA, if memory serves so I guess the sign and trade probably wouldn't work either anyway. I'm pretty sure he's ready to move on, so I guess we have as good a chance as any team at him, but I don't see us signing him while Leonard Davis is on the roster.

You'd think after 11,000 posts, I might get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to knowing when the trade deadline is. I guess not.

I just like how everyone wants Logan Mankins now that the trade deadline has passed...

I've been preaching about this offensive line before it blew up in Minnesota.

We've been the most blitzed team for like the 2-3 years, and its because of our lackluster line. It got a pass from most because they were able to push the run, but even last year you could see they couldn't do it when it mattered.

Both Mankins, and Jackson from San Diego, have to show up or not get paid for the remainder of the season. Mankins will play cause Bill says so. How he 'performs' may be interesting. I haven't heard how they'll us Jackson in SD. He says he's kept in football shape......... must've been stepping out in front of busses all this time.

Mankins flat out said he would not sign another contract with the Pats after Kraft shafted him. then wanted him to make a public apology after he made a private one. This after Kraft reneged on a promise to give him a good new contract. From what I hear there is no way Mankins resigns with the Pats.
