That is a huge coup for UT if it pans out...

I have mixed emotions as I was hoping he would come to Dallas...

Good move by Mack. He wants to Texas to be able to produce more in the running game and Chryst is a good selection to help that happen. Getting Malcom Brown should help that as well

This is what I see as well. I think Mack Brown took a good hard look at what he saw in Alabama in the NC game. I mean, who knows what could have happened had Colt not gone down. Very good chance that Texas could have beaten Bama with Colt but the fact that a single guy going down was the difference, I think made Mack take a good hard look.

Agreed... Malcolm Brown is almost unstoppable... and he's a really good kid from a tight-knit family...

Dallas Cowboys > UT

I don't know BD. I mean, you figure, if the Cowboys hired an OC, Red is still probably going to call plays. What does that mean? If your the Cowboys OC, it probably means that you would have to go to another team an OC for them if before you even got a shot at a HC job in the NFL.

If he goes to Texas, he's probably making better money and he's in position to have one of the very premo jobs in all of College Football. I can see where he might prefer college over pro.

I would have been happier as a fan of both teams if he'd gone to Dallas. I'd rather have a different style of offense for a college team. You don't have to be pro-style to have a great running game in college.

There are also rumors being circulated that Bob Bostad will be the new OL Coach and that the new DC could be Vic Fangio.

Of course, I've heard about 10 thousand rumors thus far. Also heard the name Manny Diaz. Bostad would make sense if Chryst is the OC.

Fangio is very, very interesting IMO. I wouldn't mind seeing him in Dallas.

Before returning to the College ranks with Standford, he was in New Orleans as there LBs Coach from 86-94. During that time, the Saints had the 7th, 5th, 4th, 11th, 8th, 1st and 1st ranked defense in the entire NFL. He coached Swilling, Mills, Vaugh Johnson, Ricky Jackson and all those guys.

After that, he landed in Carolina from 95-98 as there DC. That was the expansion years for Carolina but it was also the season they beat us in the Playoffs. Between that time, they had the number 8 and 2nd ranked defense in the league before they lost all their FA talent.

He then moved on to the Colts from 99 to 01. To be honest, those defenses were nothing special.

He went to Houston from 02-05. Again, expansion team and again defenses were nothing special.

After that, he landed in Baltimore from 06-09. During that time, his defenses ranked 1st, 6th, 2nd and 3rd in the NFL.

This guy has got some skills but more interestingly, he's a 34 guy.
