End of the line for him in the NFL. He's nothing without the roids. His strength will be gone. Sayonara, cheater.

Within two years, my guess is that he will be in some mixed martial arts cage pounding someone silly and getting pounded silly and later suicidal in his 30's.

Was it worth it for him to stand on top of the hill for a couple of years? Only he can answer that.

Very simple: if you use the steroids you will pay the piper.

I may be in the minority, but I would say yes. If he had no shot to get into the NFL and set himself up for life with his rookie contract without the roids. Then yeah. It was worth it.

Financially? Yeah, it may have been worth it. If he's suicidal in his thirties, it wasn't worth it.

And everyday, he has to look in the mirror and see a cheater; someone who couldn't get to the top without cheating. That, itself, is the heaviest price in my book.

I cant see it either. If I were him I'd continue to deny I used steroids or HGH too.

According to Schefter, he failed a test in September. BEFORE his rookie season. That puts a whole new light on the subject.

That'd bother me too.

But then I'd go look at an ATM receipt and feel a lot better.

The following is a statement from Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing, who was suspended Friday for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing substances. He will miss the first four games of the 2010 regular season.

"I was substance-tested randomly by the NFL during the 2009 season. The results of those tests indicated the presence of a non-steroidal banned substance. The League acted to suspend me based on those results, which I challenged in my appeal of the suspension. I believe we presented compelling evidence during the appeal process to challenge the test results, and I disagree with and am disappointed by the suspension. Bound by the decision of the League, I regret the situation it presents to the Texans' organization, my teammates, and our fans. My dedication to a championship season in 2010 continues undeterred."

Supposed to be a decision today regarding the revoking of his award. I hope they pull it.

I have no respect for guys who take banned substances. I could care less if it is non-steroidal. If it's illegal, it's illegal for a reason.

IMO, the NFL handles the PED situation about as good as any sport out there. MLB damn near condoned it for years and they are just now getting around to taking it seriously.

PEDs have no room in football. I know they are there and don't really care for it at all.

My whole issue is that apparently this violation was towards the beginning of the season, why did it take this long to come out and discipline him? They need to be more proactive in this instead of waiting almost a full year to bring punishment.

He appealed it.

Looks like the NFL doesn't even release the failed test while the appeal is ongoing.

If a guy gets a false test and they bench him for a month only to find out that he was clean later on, it wouldn't look very good.

Maybe slow but at least it's getting done I suppose.

I agree with you. If you can't do the job clean then you have no business in pro sports.

I wonder why the appeals process took so long. In this day and age of near instant communication appeals should not take too long in the sports world. How hard is it to sit down with all the parties involved and figure it out?

It also would not look good for a player to participate in the playoffs of a Superbowl if they had failed a suspension and they were just sorting through an appeal before handing out the suspension.

Probably just the way it is.

Each side has to have time to present what they have, neither the NFL or the PA will want to bum-rush through something and have one side end up screwed.

I doubt Cushing was their top priority. Other stuff going on combined with paperwork = time.
