Peter King MMQB: Cowboys Blurbs only

I'm typically not a "pile on kind of guy (and I absolutely hate Burger King), but.....................

The Miles Austin revelation is shocking, particularly when seen in the light of wide receiver Roy Williams. Comparing the past two games of Austin with the Dallas career of the currently forgettable Williams:

Player G Rec.Yards Ave. TD
Austin 2 16 421 26.3 4
Williams 17 31 428 13.8 2

Draft picks used to acquire each: Austin 0 (undrafted college free agent out of Monmouth, 2006); Williams 3 (first-, third- and sixth-round picks in trade with Detroit, 2008).

Salary: Austin, $451,000; Williams averages $9 million annually on a five-year, $45 million contract signed with Dallas last year.

In sum, Austin makes 1/19th annually what Williams makes, and he's produced as many yards in two weeks as Williams has in a totally unproductive 12 months with the Cowboys.

And people wonder why there are so many fans disappointed with the RW trade.

edit: and speedkillz is right. Austin is making a bit more than $451,000 this year.

Sounds pretty objective to me. I love the people blasting him a couple weeks ago for not ranking us in the top 15. Maybe some fans need to be a bit more objective also.

Yea I don't get in a uproar over these analysts. I mean why do we as fans have to hear analysts say good things about us? Its even worse with Mavs fans. If Barkley doesn't say the Mavs are good he should be sent to hell with gasoline draws on and a jeri curl kit on his head.

I guess when the world is your buffet, everything seems small. Mighty Mite and Miles Austin uttered in the same breath is plain dumb.

Hahaha. My poor Mavs. We need all the love we can get.

In all seriousness though...people annoy me when they say that some writer has a bias against us just for not sipping on our kool-aid.

We had zero quality wins until yesterday. King just blasted the Giants and ranked them under us for the exact same reason today. Sounds like he's sticking to his script with these rankings.

I bet that if we continue to win...we'll continue to move up in the Fine 15. As crazy as that sounds to the conspiracy theorists...I really do believe I am onto something here.

I don't see an alternative other than not saying anything at all.

How about writing about the stuff he knows about, outside of donuts, cupcakes, and dingdongs.

So you think you can accurately watch 14 different games in one sitting? Or one day? I don't see it. Its not possible. The ESPN guys and Fox guys do the same thing. There are times when you can tell they didn't see the whole game either. They're watching highlights.

No, but I can watch 4 or 5 with nothing more the satellite and a DVR so someone who gets paid to over the NFL should be able to zip through about 10.

A game on TIVO take about an hour.

I hear ya on the job they are asked to do but as ADB says, if it can't be done don't pretend to do it. I'd rather see very good Sturm like break downs over 1 game than a mishmash of ignorance about 16.

Experts and analysts aren't omniscient. They don't know everything. Yet fans act as if they do are get upset if they offer an opinion that doesn't pan out.

It's really funny.

If you go in understanding that experts aren't 100 percent accurate and they're merely offering their opinion, you won't be so upset when they pick against your team or if they get a prediction wrong.

But do you call players and coaches after the game to get insight not only for your column but for later stories?

Do you have to meet a deadline after watching your four games on television?

Do you have to rush off to catch a plane so you can be at a Monday Night game or meet with other players and coaches for other stories?

Besides, Peter King is merely giving his OPINION, and opinions can be wrong.

As for this thread, because he calls Austin a mighty-mite he doesn't watch film?

Does anyone think maybe he was comparing Austin's height to Roy's or maybe the reference didn't have anything to do with height and maybe Austin's pedigree (undrafted free agent) vs. Roy's (first-round draft choice)?

That's like bragging about beating up somebody that's paralyzed.

We lost to William and Mary. I'm pretty you guys were supposed to win.

Either way, you wont make a BCS bowl. Enjoy the Gaylord Hotel Bowl. Not like GA Tech has much else going on.
