I am all for staying in school, but not when you are a lock to be a top 3 pick in the draft. Too many things can go wrong, he has a chance to secure his financial future, it would be a mistake to stay in school.

Considering the current NFL turmoil its not that surprising. And maybe he does not want to play in Carolina.

Maybe Carolina w/out Harbaugh does not want him either. There is a strong contingent in Carolina and in Jerry Richardson's ear that does not want to invest in a QB and give Claussen time to develop.

I don't ever believe it was a forgone conclusion that Carolina would have selected Luck.

Also, dont be surprised if the NFL extends the deadline for JR's to declare in hopes of working out an agreement first. It's going to be a while before we know everything.

I've been wondering if that might happen too, or if for the first time the NFL might give underclassmen the right to declare and change their mind before the draft as long as they dont hire an agent or accept any payments.

"Current plan" doesn't sound rock solid to me. He could have a different "current plan" tomorrow. Like ou said, let;s see what he says after the bowl game becasue he'll surely be asked about his intentions after the game.

BINGO. Stafford could be and should be set for life with the money he's getting off his rookie contract, and hindsight being 20/20 Locker passed that up to come back and have a worse season than last year which means much less $$$ than he would have gotten had he left when his stock was the highest it could possibly be.

Schools need to know how many scholarships they can give out the first week of Feb. If 5 kids at a school can delay their decision and it conflicts with signing day, it's going to be awkward for those 5 high school seniors that suddenly can't sign (or are forced to grayshirt and wait until January of 2012).
