2023 NFL Mock Draft: Five QBs go in first round, including Colts trading up to No. 1 for Bryce Young

• Colts swap with Bears for No. 1 pick: The Bears are in prime position to trade down, and Indianapolis pounces to snag Alabama quarterback Bryce Young.

• Five QBs land in Round 1: Alabama's Bryce Young, Kentucky's Will Levis, Ohio State's C.J. Stroud, Florida's Anthony Richardson and Stanford's Tanner McKee go on Day 1.

• Texans add promising QB-WR pairing: Houston drafts Kentucky's Will Levis and TCU's Quentin Johnston with its top picks to form a strong offensive nucleus.

26. DALLAS COWBOYS: LB DREW SANDERS, ARKANSAS

If the Cowboys want to make their third-down packages unstoppable, Sanders is the guy who can bring that wish to life. At 6-foot-5 and 232 pounds, Sanders has off-ball range with edge rusher-esque pass-rushing moves. He collected 11 sacks in 2022 just as a blitzer. Pairing that with the likes of Micah Parsons, Sam Williams and Demarcus Lawrence would be scary.

He’s an interesting player for sure. Is he good against the run and good enough to cover?

If he’s a 3 down LBr I could get on board.

I'll tear my hair out if we go WR in the first.

DT is more important. OL is more important. CB is more important. Shoot, even LB is probaby more important. You just paid Gallup a fairly sizeable contract. You have Lamb. Use FA to find your 3rd WR.

Remember when Juju Schuster wanted to come here and the message board laughed at the idea?

Gallup is garbage and we can get out of that contract next season. WR is very weak, and I wouldn't cross that off the 1st round list if value was there

They aren't going to dump him after two years. Plus, it's not surprising that he's been slow to come back to full health. People were being stupid when they thought he'd just pop back to his pre-injured self. It was going to take a full season for him to get back.

Using another first round pick on a WR would be dumb. But hey, we haven't won anything in 27 years so dumb is what we seem to do best.

Eh, with them going heavily 12 personnel I don’t really see them going WR before the 3rd, especially after having Tolbert take a redshirt year learning how to run pro routes. That said, TE wouldn’t surprise me at all if Shultz end up leaving!

Sanders is a decent pick, but you have to go Joey Porter Jr. if hes still on the board like in the mock. Get you a day 2 nose tackle to help boost the run defense.

There are some really bizarre picks in this. Lions taking an RB in round 1 when they desperately need defense? Eagles spending a pick on WR when they have arguably the best WR duo in the league?

I mean what you said makes sense. But others have pointed out, Jerry loves his shiny toys so WR in the first would absolutely be something they would do.

Except, perception isn’t the reality. They’ve taken 3 WRs in the first round in 33 years. Lamb who fell and was too highly rated to pass. Dez because The Roy Williams trade was a bust and the other starter was the often injured Miles Austin. After that you have to go back to 1991 and Alvin Harper. They just dumped Cooper’s contract, resigned Gallup and have Lamb’s coming up in 2 years. Guessing unless someone has a precipitous fall, Jerry is going to be thinking he’s invested enough big money and draft capital. OBJ sounded like a good idea when he thought he could be signed for the 1.5m he was worth, not so much when it was revealed OBJ had a delusional perspective of where his value sat. Honestly I don’t see a WR that stands out enough for them to pull the trigger even with a drop and there’s not really a big enough drop off from the 2 to 4th.
