PFF 7 rounds Cowboy mock

And Brown and Lewis very well could be cap moves. Cutting Brown saves $5 million on the cap, I believe.

I think both Brown and Lewis are punching above their contracts.

I’ve pencilled in Diggs/Joseph starting outside, with Brown as both slot and cover outside, Lewis comes in if theirs an injury at any of the three starting positions. Maybe if Wright develops we can move on but I wouldn’t do that before the season and wouldn’t want another 3rd spent on CB.

I’d rather move on from bad contract than good ones. We’re gonna restructure Dak and Martin, we can probably cut Zuerlien and can look at Cooper, Lawrence or L.Collins who IMO are on overpriced contracts that are feasible to get out of.

Cooper seems like a possibility. Not sure you can cut Collins, as he actually played fairly well. His contract isn't terrible and he provides flexibility in that he can stay at RT or maybe even slide to OG if Ball can develop as the RT. Lawrence? In an ideal world sure. But that DL is bereft of talent and he's your best DE by a mile. Gregory gets hype but has never materialized into a dominant player. And he's a FA.

I guess I don't see the Brown hype. He gets routinely picked on by the better QBs. $5 million saved in cap space can get you a nice vet DT or even OG.

I don’t think it’s a matter of being bullish on Brown but rather understanding what he is. He’s an experienced corner with starting experience that will give up plays but also make his fair share of positive plays.

In the same way I wouldn’t want to trot out Cedric Wilson as my No. 1 or 2 receiver, I don’t want Brown as one of my top 2 corners. That said, he’s a quality 3rd-4th corner IMO that can step in as a spot starter. That’s valuable to me and for just $5M per that’s a steal.
