Why Oxnard? Such a random place to have camp. I always thought the billion dollar complex-city that they built would host training camp.

They like the cooler temperature to play outside than the heat. Also, Jerry Jones is always trying to tap into the California market that has quite a few Cowboy fans to keep them interested and continuing to spend their $.

That's good to hear. Who in their right mind would want to train in the daunting Texas heat?! Those men would dropping like flies.

The cool climes of Oxnard will always be a better option than practicing in the Texas heat. Tom Landry knew it many decades ago. The fact that this team still agrees with that scenario speaks well of that decision. It seems like every now and then, this staff does the right thing. Aside from the weather, the location also provides a location that keeps players from patronizing haunts that best remain unattended. Thanks for that, guys -- sane idea!

Back in my day we practiced 2 times a day, on dirt not grass with with no water breaks and we liked it.:omg:

So the Star facility is just for show.

While Jerry continues to pacify the players is beyond me.

Just so y'all know, Jimmy held his camps in Texas.

These guys need to toughen up anyway.

Jerry already answered this right before training camp started.

The weather is nice. So, essentially, it's just a good vacation spot.

It's a great place for camp. Perfect weather. Watch camp in the morning then go to the beach in the afternoon or vice-versa.

Great news, I'll be back there, again.

Before Jones bought the franchise, the Cowboys had long established their presence in California.
From 1963 through 1989, they held their training camp at California Lutheran College.
It is located in Thousand Oaks - less than 20 miles from their present location at River Ridge Playing Fields in Oxford.

Maybe it would teach them some character? God forbid these millionaires who get paid to do a job are uncomfortable.
