SIGNS POINTING TO NORV IN DALLAS?

Although we're not yet ready to completely rule out a last-ditch effort by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to lasso Lovie Smith of the Bears, the signs over the weekend pointed clearly to Norv Turner as the next coach in Big D.

The obvious evidence? It came as the announcement was made that Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin will enter the Hall of Fame in August. There was Jones in the green room, right next to Norv.

More telling, in our view, is the fact that Jones attended an exclusive pre-Super Bowl party over the weekend, one to which he could take only one guest.

And his guest, we're told, was Norv Turner.

Jones said last week that the team would name its new head coach after the Super Bowl. Bears defensive coordinator Ron Rivera could emerge as a candidate for the job or, given that his contract with the Bears is expiring, he might be considered for a lateral move to Dallas.

PFT has some brilliant, introspective minds working for them.

Up next: Escalated confetti purchases in Indiana point to possible celebration.

When it turns out not to be Norv Turner, then tell us about it. I'll glady listen.

And when (unfortunately) it is Norv, we'll tell you what drawn-out, dog-and-pony show this whole thing really was, OK?

or it could be exactly what it looks like...that he is covering all his bases

if he picks Norv, maybe, just maybe its because he believes its really the best hire

just because Norv didnt win big in two other places (where nobody wins) doesnt mean he wont win here

It will mean exactly what many of us have said.

That Jones has learned nothing and he'll hire yet another puppet rather than the best available candidate.

Turner is a two-time loser as a head coach and his record provides nothing to indicate that's about to change.

It will be the Campo era all over again and we can say hello to those 5-11 seasons Jones seems to miss.

Theres the problem right there. What Jerry believes and what coaching record alone says are two different things. Not only that but for the job in dallas, RIGHT NOW, an offensive coach shouldn't even be considered because the offense isn't the problem.

the offense isnt great either and the run game needs alot of improvement...further, Romo started out with a bang and regressed as he started more games...the guy looks like he could be pretty good, I want him to get the best coaching possible...and the best coach for Romo is Norv Turner

Romo doesn't need a coach to tell him not to hold the ball out too far when scrambling, checkdown, get rid of the ball when pressured and nothing's there, and what happened to Garrett? isn't he supposed to be some sort of bright, innovative offensive mind? he's a QB coach, why can't he work w/ Romo? don't need him and Norv to do it

yes, the O isn't great, and the run game needs improvement, but the D needs more improvement
