Alex Leatherwood, Alabama
TuesdayWednesdayThursdayAnalysis
Someone is going to get a very safe offensive lineman in Alex Leatherwood. The Alabama blocker has long been one of the NCAA’s best tackles, and he upheld that reputation on Tuesday. With his elite length, power, and balance in his base, he didn’t allow much penetration at all against opposing defenders. His extensions were lethal, and he also had good leg drive blocking downfield.

Carlos Basham Jr., Wake Forest
TuesdayWednesdayThursdayAnalysis
Basham is one of those players who might be an interior hybrid at the next level, and Tuesday confirmed that upside. At 6-foot-3, 281, with an 81-inch wingspan, he has the profile of a tweener. His refined hands, which showed up in spades on Tuesday, give him some flexibility on top of his physical traits. He wasn’t as explosive as his counterparts, but his urgency, hand power, and methodical approach helped to close the gap a bit.

Marvin Wilson, Florida State
TuesdayWednesdayThursdayAnalysis
Marvin Wilson has a lot of work to do to get his first-round hype back, and he’s not going to do it with his performance on Tuesday. He did manage to beat Deonte Brown on one rep, using a mix of power and burst. But overall, Wilson was extremely inconsistent, and ineffective on way too many reps. He didn’t definitively win against Drake Jackson, who didn’t have a good day, either. That doesn’t bode well for Wilson’s stock.

Ifeatu Melifonwu, Syracuse
TuesdayWednesdayThursdayAnalysis
Melifonwu had a really good play in one-on-ones. He got off the ball slow and the receiver ran a “9 route,” but his eye discipline was on full display, as was his ability to make up lost ground and recover to prevent the deep play. Aside from getting the rug pulled from under him by Trevon Grimes, Senior Bowl practice report indicates he had a really solid day.

Hamsah Nasirildeen, Florida State
TuesdayWednesdayThursdayAnalysis
Nasirildeen was great while playing down in the box, but his coverage is hit and miss. He is the best box safety in this class in terms of having a nose for the ball and making plays at or near the line of scrimmage, but his coverage needs to be more fine-tuned going forward.

Richie Grant, Central Florida
TuesdayWednesdayThursdayAnalysis
Richie Grant had a day. He made a play breaking up a Mac Jones pass in which Trevon Grimes had a step on his man by coming over the top and nearly intercepting the pass. He has flown under the radar in comparison to the other top safeties in the class, but his stock will rise if he continues this type of play through the week.

Levi Onwuzurike, Washington
TuesdayWednesdayThursdayAnalysis
Levi Onwuzurike had himself a day with the National Team at the Senior Bowl. The Washington defensive tackle is incredibly long and explosive, and he was incredibly active getting penetration on the interior. He also used his length to establish a strong anchor in run defense. He can do a better job converting and keeping his balance in the backfield, but he has very impressive traits.

Baron Browning, Ohio State
TuesdayWednesdayThursdayAnalysis
It’s clear now that Baron Browning is the best Ohio State linebacker in the 2021 NFL Draft. Now, the question is, how far can he rise? He was a big winner at the weigh-in, and he had some nice plays in practice, too. On one occasion, he put his elite athleticism on display, changing directions with ease to mirror a pass catcher in coverage. The upside is immense with Browning, and with any luck, he can keep proving that this week.

Chazz Surratt, North Carolina
TuesdayWednesdayThursdayAnalysis
As was expected, Chazz Surratt was solid overall on his first day. He’s definitely a bit undersized, but he makes up for it with his athleticism and speed coming into the box. That athleticism was on display in drills and in open field, and it’s something Surratt can build on in the coming days.

Grant and Browning. Two guys I’ve been high on all season.

Let me get Surtain, Grant, Browning and a 1T and I’m good.

Grant is my #2 Free Safety, been high on Browning for a long time. Think both might be 2nd rd picks, when it's all said and done. I'm more a Farley guy then Surtain. Melifonwu is in my top 5 corners in the class.

Marvin Wilson is looking more and more like a day 3 pick. McNeil is my favorite 1T in the class.

Keep these updates coming.

I have just recently been turned onto Grant but I'm impressed with I've seen. He looks like a real player at FS.
I'm not really after another 3T, but Onwuzurike would be a good player to get. I like Shelvin from LSU for our 1T spot.

Grant is very good from what I have read. The negatives are that he is not that great of a tackler ( kinda shy away from it as one scouting report said) and he is not a box safety. That is fine if Wilson keeps on developing like he did this year.

I can live with a few missed tackles for game changing picks. With improved line play he won’t be asked to tackle as much!

I am at least intrigued by every player listed plus one mentioned Deonte Davis. Really interested in Onwuzurike but where he is projected is between our first and second picks.

Heard same issue with Moehrig as a tackler. They are going to get drafted on their coverage abilities.

Yup and coverage abilities they are good at. I like A Darius Washington maybe with our 3rd comp pick or 4th rd pick if he lasts that long.

And Cisco and Mckinney and Delpit etc etc. lol

College DBs, including safeties, all struggle to tackle in the open field. It's true in the NFL too. You draft guys who can cover and just hope they'll pick up systems and responsibilities enough to be in the right spot to slow a ball carrier down in the open field. If you're looking for a safety who can cover deep third and will bring down the Mecole Hardmans of the world 1-on-1 in the open field, you're never going to find him.

The so called box, strong-safeties are the better tacklers, deep free safeties make their money due to their high level coverage abilities.
