Cowboys | Playing time incentives in reach for Romo
Fri, 27 Oct 2006 19:30:48 -0700

Todd Archer, of The Dallas Morning News, reports Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo can earn extra money to his 2007 base salary based on playing time incentives this season. It is unlikely Romo will reach the $1 million incentive for playing in 75 percent of the snaps. However, he could earn $750,000 for playing in 65 percent of the snaps, $500,000 for playing in 55 percent of the snaps or $250,000 for playing in 45 percent of the snaps. There are not any incentives in his contract for the 2006 season.

If those incentives are based on 2007, then why would it be unlikely for him to play 75% and likely he would play 65%?

I think it is odd for this author to predict Romo will play somewhere between 65% and 75% next year.

It's based on his playing time this season.
