I've tried finding a replacement handle for my shower at the local home improvement store with no luck. I'd like to be able to find one online if possible, but don't know how to identify it. Maybe if I describe it someone here will know the proper name for it.

It's a single handle shower. Pull pack on the lever to increase flow, push the lever to decrease. Turn the handle to the right for more hot, to the left for more cold. The handle is held in place by a single set screw on top. In my case that set screw is stripped out and causes the handle to come off. The handle attaches to a shaft that goes into the wall and connects to the rest of the assembly. The shaft is roughly square.

Hope this is enough info for someone to recognize what I'm talking about and point me in the right direction...

Is there name on it anywhere?

Sounds like something like this.

Is it like this?

You're probably better off taking a photo to the plumbing store (Home Depot always seems to let me down in these cases) and asking them to identify it.

That is my guess.

By your description that is a Delta handle.

You can take any handle into an Ace or True Value hardware store and they will match it for you.

One note, if the screw is stripped you may need to replace the whole inner works. If so, PM me and I will walk you through it.

Very similar, but all metal.

Thanks, hoping to avoid replacing the works. But if that's what I gotta do, so be it.

The problem usually is they sell the whole kit, not just the faulty pieces for the center control showers.

That would be a "knob", not a "handle".

I want a redo. I would have posted that picture much earlier and could have had a productive day in helping someone else out.
