Does anybody even know what pass interference is anymore? I saw so many that I would call PI go uncalled this weekend. The on on TY was so minimal I did not think it would have been called but there are many more flagrant holds and pulls and arm grabs that is is unreal. I don't know how many times a weekend you see a guy have one of his arms held while trying to catch the ball.

Is this why overall pass yardage numbers are down?

Its pretty much pass interference on EVERY play from what I can see. AS soon as the DB starts pulling on your arm, thats pass interference in my book.

The bad thing about pass interference calls is that each team of referees calls it differently.

Each team of referees has a reputation for calling more of certain types of penalties such as holding, pass interference, etc. while some are known for letting everything except the very obvious penalties go without throwing a flag.

So it really comes down to which group of referees you get for the game as to whether or not certain types of penalties will be a factor.

There will still be flags for flagrant fouls in coverage. Just tired of seeing the ticky-tack hand fighting calls go against the DB all the time.

Thats pass interference. You start holding on the receivers arms and pulling on them it not only slows him down but prevents his arms from making the catch. Text book pass interference.

Maybe the DB's should just learn to cover.

Hand fighting takes two. Let them play or call the foul against both players.

If they call it evenly and just let them play, I am OK with it.
The tightening of PI rules since the 70's where teams have average at least 200 yards per game from the 80's on up to 240's from 2010 on. I don't know where the happy medium is but I do not like arms grabbed so receivers are trying to catch the ball with one hand.

Hand fighting is one thing, but if a DB comes crashing in before the ball gets to the receiver then they should be calling that every time. I'm sick of watching DBs get away it when the game is in the balance. That last drive of Dallas' against Green Bay, 4th down and Dak actually puts the ball where it needs to be only to have the DB crash into Gallup early without a flag is criminal,,, but it kept Green Bay and Rodgers in the playoff discussion so I guess the NFL considers that a proper application of the rules.

Slay got called for illegal contact and yes, I agreed with the call. He was trying to prevent him from coming out of his break and it was blatant.

Well, there is no such thing as a perfect game, either by the refs or the players. The first interception Minshew threw was pass interference in frustration I almost threw the remote through the TV thinking it was coming back. Guess what? I'm glad I didn't. The refs missed a call, too bad. Win some you lose some. We've seen our share of missed calls so boo hooo.
