I think it means there was forethought to evenly space TP's touches through the game... like perhaps, knowing McC's interest in metrics... there was some explicit intent in the game plan to give him the Goldilocks treatment... not too much, not too little, but "just right."

I think it is clear the Cowboys were determined not to put the full load on Pollard. Perhaps the Cowboys coaches think he cannot handle it.
